POSITION DESCRIPTION
Lutheran Summer Music Academy & Festival (LSM)

Title: Marketing & Communications Manager
Classification: Full Time
Department: Office of Advancement
Reports to: Director of Advancement

Position Overview
The Marketing & Communications Manager leads the implementation of Lutheran Summer Music’s marketing and communications strategy in close partnership with the Director of Advancement. Serving as LSM’s chief brand steward and primary storyteller, this role both develops and produces the organization’s marketing and communications across print, digital, and multimedia platforms—creating campaigns, content, and creative assets that strengthen enrollment, audience engagement, alumni connection, and philanthropic support.

Responsibilities
Lead and produce LSM’s integrated marketing and communications across print, digital, and multimedia platforms
Develop and execute seasonal campaigns supporting enrollment, annual giving, event participation, and audience engagement
Direct and maintain the organization-wide communications calendar
Create written, visual, and multimedia content, including website articles, email campaigns, social media content, print promotional materials, and development collateral
Manage, update, and optimize LSM’s website, email marketing, and social media platforms, leveraging digital tools such as Squarespace, Constant Contact, Canva, Meta Business Suite, and related platforms.
Coordinate media outreach and public relations efforts
Lead photography, video production, and live-streaming initiatives
Collaborate with Advancement and Admissions staff to align marketing efforts with institutional priorities
Guide seasonal staff and creative contractors during peak production periods
Expand LSM’s audience base, amplifying the organization’s presence among both Lutheran and non-Lutheran communities
Develop and implement systems for measuring marketing performance, establishing key metrics, and reporting processes to evaluate effectiveness and inform strategy

Summer Residency Expectations
The Marketing & Communications Manager is required to be on-site for the full duration (approximately five weeks) of LSM’s annual summer program. During this period, the Manager serves as the lead communications strategist and creative producer—capturing and shaping daily stories, directing media efforts, producing real-time content, coordinating live-streaming, and supporting concerts and development initiatives.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Design, related field, or equivalent experience
3–5+ years of progressive marketing and communications experience
Strong writing and editorial skills
Demonstrated graphic design proficiency for both print and digital mediums
Experience managing websites, email marketing platforms, and digital campaigns
Photography and video editing experience
Strong project management and collaboration skills
Highly self-directed with the ability to establish priorities, manage deadlines, and execute complex projects with minimal supervision
Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of classical and sacred music communities strongly preferred
Commitment to LSM’s mission and advancement priorities

Compensation & Terms
This is a full-time, exempt position. Salary range of $60,000-$65,000 with competitive retirement, medical, dental, and generous vacation benefits.
