EMSI presents world class chamber music performances

The Ensemble Music Society of Indianapolis is a nonprofit organization dedicated to presenting high-quality ensemble music performances and fostering community engagement through music. EMSI collaborates with leading artists and partner organizations to deliver meaningful artistic experiences.

The Administrative Director is a part-time staff position responsible for coordinating the administrative, operational, and communications functions of EMSI. Working closely with the Artistic Director and Board of Directors, the Administrative Director ensures the smooth execution of concerts, events, and organizational activities.
This role is primarily remote, with occasional in-person responsibilities in Indianapolis related to performances and events.

Key Responsibilities
Concert & Event Coordination
• Coordinate logistics for performances (venues, artists, schedules)
• Arrange local transportation and accommodations for artists
• Serve as primary operational contact for venues and partners
Communications & Marketing Support
• Manage email communications and announcements
• Maintain website and event listings
• Support social media and promotional efforts
• Assist with printed concert programs
Development & Donor Support
• Maintain donor database and mailing lists
• Process and acknowledge contributions
• Support fundraising campaigns and grant applications
Administrative Support
• Prepare materials for Board and committee meetings
• Maintain organizational calendar and records
• Coordinate internal communications
Financial Administration Support (under Treasurer oversight)
• Track expenses and process payments
• Maintain financial documentation
• Support basic bookkeeping workflows

Qualifications
Required:
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently
• Comfort with digital tools (email platforms, spreadsheets, basic databases)
Preferred:
• Experience in arts administration or nonprofit work
• Familiarity with event coordination
• Experience with CRM or ticketing platforms

• Based in or near Indianapolis preferred

Compensation
• $25/hour
• Approximately 15–25 hours per week (seasonal variation)
