About New World Symphony
The New World Symphony (NWS), America’s Orchestral Academy, prepares graduates of music programs for leadership roles in orchestras, ensembles and their communities worldwide through a three-year postgraduate fellowship program focusing on orchestral performance and musicianship, community and audience engagement, and leadership. Under the artistic direction of founder Michael Tilson Thomas, NWS seeks to expand Fellows’ musical and professional horizons beyond their traditional conservatory training. NWS envisions a strong and secure future for classical music and will redefine, reaffirm, express and share its traditions with a many people as possible. Diversity, equity and inclusion is a high priority for NWS as it is a necessary part of that strong and secure future and critical in the preparation of the Fellows for leadership.
