Now in its fifth decade, Arts New Orleans is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting arts and culture throughout the city. Our mission is to improve the quality of life in New Orleans by supporting, activating, and investing in our city’s greatest natural resource: our artists and creative community.

Arts New Orleans seeks a part-time (25 hours per week) Marketing Director to oversee its marketing efforts. The Marketing Director leads the strategic vision, execution, and growth of all marketing and communications initiatives for Arts New Orleans. This role oversees multi-platform storytelling, public relations, digital strategy, and audience engagement efforts across all programs, including Percent for Art, Arts Market of New Orleans, Young Artist Movement (YAM), LUNA Fête, and special projects.

Position Summary

The Marketing Director leads the strategic development and execution of all marketing and communications efforts for Arts New Orleans. This role is responsible for shaping the organization’s public presence through multi-platform storytelling, digital marketing, media relations, and audience engagement. Working closely with the Deputy Director and program staff, the Marketing Director develops campaigns that elevate artists, promote public programs, and strengthen community awareness of Arts New Orleans’ impact. The role manages marketing systems, oversees content production, and ensures consistent brand messaging across initiatives including Percent for Art, Arts Market, Young Artist Movement (YAM), LUNA Fête, and other special projects.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Brand Management
• Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and communications strategies aligned with organizational goals and annual programming.
• Lead brand stewardship across all public-facing platforms, ensuring consistency in voice, visuals, and messaging.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to align marketing strategy with fundraising, development, and programmatic priorities.
• Establish annual marketing calendars, campaign timelines, and performance benchmarks.
• Lead bi-monthly Marketing Committee meetings to align messaging, campaign priorities, and cross-departmental initiatives.

Digital Marketing & Content Strategy
• Oversee management of multiple social media accounts across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.).
• Direct content creation including copywriting, photography coordination, video production, graphic design, and short-form digital storytelling.
• Analyze digital engagement metrics and social analytics to optimize growth, reach, and audience conversion.
• Oversee email marketing strategy, including newsletters, segmented campaigns, and automated communications.
• Manage and update the organization’s website, including content edits, event listings, landing pages, and structural updates as needed to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and brand alignment.
Public Relations & Media
• Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and public statements.
• Cultivate relationships with local and regional media outlets.
• Coordinate press coverage for public art unveilings, festivals, exhibitions, and major announcements.
• Serve as organizational spokesperson when appropriate.
Program & Event Marketing
• Develop marketing campaigns for major initiatives including:
o Percent for Art public art commissions
o Arts Market of New Orleans (monthly + holiday markets)
o LUNA Fête: Light Art & Technology Festival
o Young Artist Movement (YAM)
• Create promotional assets for public art unveilings, community engagement events, and artist features.
• Coordinate event marketing logistics including signage, printed materials, run-of-show communications, and partner toolkits.
Creative Production & Storytelling
• Lead production of artist interviews, project documentation, campaign videos, and behind-the-scenes storytelling.
• Coordinate with photographers, videographers, designers, and contractors.
• Maintain and organize digital asset libraries for internal and external use.
• Develop compelling narratives that highlight artists, youth participants, community partners, and public impact.

Budget & Vendor Management
• Develop and manage annual marketing budget.
• Negotiate contracts with creative vendors and media outlets.
• Oversee production timelines and deliverables for marketing contractors.

Internal Systems & Workflow Management
• Utilize Monday.com to manage marketing workflows, campaign timelines, cross-departmental coordination, and deliverables.
• Develop and maintain structured project management systems to ensure timely execution of campaigns and events.
• Create onboarding materials, communication templates, and process documentation to support departmental continuity.
• Build scalable systems for content planning, asset storage, and collaborative review processes.

Data & Impact Reporting
• Track and report on marketing performance metrics, audience growth, and campaign outcomes.
• Support grant reporting and development efforts with audience data and engagement statistics.
• Translate metrics into actionable insights to refine strategy and expand reach.

Organizational Participation
• Attend bi-weekly Arts New Orleans staff meetings.
• Contribute to cross-departmental initiatives as needed.

Salary

The salary is $30,000. Part-time employees do not receive health insurance or other benefits.

How We Work

The Arts New Orleans team primarily works remotely, although we have a studio where team members often work and staff meetings are held. Soon, the organization plans to transition to a hybrid work model, with all staff expected to work in person at least two days per week. This job requires attendance at evening and/or weekend meetings, events or workshops. Arts New Orleans is involved in numerous community activations, including monthly art markets and public art unveilings. Additionally, team members regularly attend performances, gallery openings, art festivals, and other cultural activities!
