Art Moves Director
Arts Council Oklahoma City is a nonprofit organization that brings nationally recognized arts programming and events to the greater Oklahoma City area, reaching over one million people annually. Our mission is to bring the arts and the community together.
The Art Moves Director is responsible for the coordination and implementation of Art Moves, a program that provides free arts programming throughout Oklahoma City. The program features artists of all disciplines including visual, musical, dance, etc. and takes place in over 20 sites, and virtually. Past Art Moves sites include Leadership Square, Plaza District, Paseo’s First Fridays, and Devon Tower.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Traits:
Excellent organizational, communication, writing and interpersonal skills. Experience in coordinating volunteers. Ability to be flexible and respond quickly to change. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and the ability to work as part of a team. Consistently exhibits kindness and empathy. Knowledge of social media platforms, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office. Experience with stage lighting, digital and analog sound system set up, mixing, troubleshooting sound issues, and repairing analog sound equipment preferred. Three to four years of experience in nonprofit event and/or project management. A Bachelors in related field or equivalent professional experience required.
Ø Cultivating and maintaining relationships with artists, industry professionals, and venues.
Ø Scout new locations and build relationships with business owners and district leaders.
Ø Research and recruit new artists in order to diversify the ACOKC roster and maintain knowledge of local events and trends.
Ø Reviewing artist applications and booking artists to include scheduling, payments, required IRS documents and contracts.
Ø Organizing program calendar 6-12 weeks in advance and publishing a monthly calendar for social media and website.
Ø Organizing and maintaining a database that includes vital information to the program.
Ø Facilitating artist needs during events including P.A., staging, announcements, livestreaming, shooting photos/videos of performances for social media engagement, gathering audience data, and other logistics.
Ø Assisting Communications Director with promotion of events to include preparing graphics for social media posts, updating website event calendar, and photography and video editing for content.
Ø Preparing and monitoring project budget to be approved by Executive Director.
Ø Maintaining event supplies inventory, organizing equipment and truck maintenance.
Ø Managing any volunteers or interns assigned to assist with the program.
Other Programs and Events:
Ø Work closely with Executive Director and other Directors to program all performing arts at Festival of the Arts and Twilight Concert Series.
Ø Oversee and assist with stage management and sound reinforcement at all Arts Council events to include maintaining, setting up, and programming multiple sound systems and lighting systems.
Ø Serve as staff liaison to the Performing Arts committees for Festival of the Arts. Schedule and oversee the jury process. Maintain proper functions at all stages. Request bids for sound company.
Ø Perform other staff duties as requested and participate in all Arts Council functions.
Flexible schedule required, including evenings and weekends. Leading up to, during, and after events physical labor will be expected. Physical labor can include assisting to set up and tear down tents and equipment. Events require ability to spend extended duration standing and ability to lift 50 lbs. During these times, there will be mandatory overtime at 1.5 times employee’s hourly rate. Ability to operate company and/or personal vehicle as necessary. Work from home is available, up to two days per week. The organization operates on a 35-hour work week.
Starting salary $46,000 – $50,000
A comprehensive benefit package is included at no out of pocket cost to employee.
