Website Arts & HUmanities Council of Tuscaloosa
To promote and encourage the arts in West Alabama
Position Summary
The Bama Theatre Venue Manager manages the overall management and daily
operation of the historic Bama Theatre, ensuring exceptional experiences for audiences,
artists, renters, and community partners. This leadership position oversees venue
operations, event production, facility maintenance, front- and back-of-house activities,
staff supervision, and customer service while maintaining a safe, welcoming, and
professionally operated performing arts venue.
Serving as the primary operational contact for theatre rentals, performances, films,
educational programs, and special events, the Venue Manager coordinates all aspects
of event execution—from initial planning through final settlement—including scheduling,
production logistics, technical requirements, staffing, artist hospitality, and facility
readiness. The position also manages production coordination for the Arts & Humanities
Council's TuscArts OnStage presenting series, working closely with artists, agents,
promoters, sponsors, and Arts Council staff to ensure successful performances and
outstanding patron experiences.
The Venue Manager supervises event personnel, maintenance and custodial staff,
interns, volunteers, and contracted service providers while overseeing theatre
maintenance, safety, security, and compliance with organizational policies and industry
standards. This position requires a highly organized, collaborative professional who can
successfully manage multiple priorities, build strong relationships with clients and
community partners, solve problems in a fast-paced environment, and represent the
Arts & Humanities Council with professionalism and integrity.
Because the Bama Theatre operates as an active community performing arts venue,
this position requires a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and
holidays to support performances, rentals, community events, and other Arts Council
programming.

exhibitions, and community events throughout the year. We are committed to preserving
Tuscaloosa's cultural heritage while creating opportunities for people of all ages to

Our team values collaboration, innovation, exceptional customer service, and a
welcoming environment for patrons, artists, renters, volunteers, and community
partners. We believe the arts bring people together, drive economic vitality, and help
make Tuscaloosa a vibrant place to live, work, and visit.
