Overview

Primary Function

The Executive Director shall have overall accountability for the business activities of CATCO in accordance with the strategic objectives and direction provided by the Board. They will ensure that CATCO’s administrative and financial strategies are effectively implemented across the organization. This position acts as an advocate with outside agencies for CATCO and CATCO is Kids programs and initiatives. The Executive Director also works collaboratively with the Artistic Director on the advancement of CATCO’s mission and vision, the development of CATCO’s programming, and maintaining financial stewardship.

Duties and Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Board and the Artistic Director to set strategic objectives that promote the mission and financial sustainability of CATCO.
Communicate effectively with the Board and provide, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
Work with Artistic Director to develop, articulate and deliver programming aligned with CATCO’s mission and vision.
Manage the administrative staff and direct administrative functions; Establish effective decision-making and operational processes.
Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration and strengthen internal communications with staff.
Oversee the development of an annual budget that is consistent with long-term financial sustainability and with the financial goals of CATCO.
Responsible for developing short term financial goals and planning long term financial strategy in partnership with CAPA’s finance and development team.
Work collaboratively and provide direction to CAPA’s marketing, development, and HR staff to ensure support services are aligned with CATCO’s operational and financial goals.
Manage labor relations including negotiations with the local IATSE and Musicians’ unions and implementation of AEA, USA and SDC contracts.
Oversee the operation and maintenance of the theatre’s physical spaces.
Develop and implement theater rental policies, documents and fee structure for use of the facility.
Act as a representative and advocate with government agencies, the media, insurance companies, community and local business groups and arts organizations.
Responsible for the enhancement of CATCO’s image by being active and visible in the community and by developing relationships with corporate and private leaders.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Excellent collaboration skills with an ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
Ability to achieve consensus amongst differing opinions.
Knowledge of financial business practices and ability to perform financial analysis.
Knowledge of fundraising principals; Familiarity with Central Ohio’s donor community preferred.
Excellent organization and problem-solving skills.

Credentials and Experience

A minimum of 15 years of related progressive experience; Experience leading a similar non-profit organization preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in theater, arts administration, business, communications, or related field.
Proven success in leadership, driving membership/patronage, and in corporate relationship building.
Must possess an interest in theatre and a commitment to growing CATCO’s presence in Central Ohio.
