Position Summary: The Detroit Symphony Orchestra is looking for a highly adaptable, deadline-driven individual with the ability to think creatively to fill this role. This position is a critical part of the Growth Marketing Team within the DSO’s overall Marketing and Patron Experience department. The Email Marketing Manager is responsible for the management, development, and execution of single ticket promotional email campaigns. This role reports to the Director of Growth Marketing and is responsible for setting email schedules, creating email content, oversight of list segmentation and executing ongoing campaigns that drive audience and revenue growth for programs across all DSO series, which includes:

PVS Classical series

PNC Pops series

Paradise Jazz series

Young People’s Family Concerts & Tiny Tots

William Davidson Neighborhood Concert Series

DSO Special presentations and co-presentations

Cube Theatre and Sosnick Courtyard

Detroit Neighborhood Initiative events

DTE Community Concerts

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Build the schedule for promotional emails across all curated series at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra

Work in close collaboration with the Loyalty Marketing Manager and team members in Advancement, Communications, and Learning & Engagement to devise strategies that help streamline and enhance the DSO’s overall email presence.

Improve promotional email campaigns with strategic implementation of campaign personalization, campaign automation, and use these tools to develop email marketing funnels for patrons at the DSO.

Analyze and refine email campaign performance and strategy using dynamic pricing tools and CRM data.

Monitor and refine organization-wide marketing and communication email preferences in collaboration with Creative, Advancement, Learning & Engagement, and Communications teams.

Serve as project manager for announcement and on-sale processes for select events during the season.

Act as the lead for targeted promotions to activate different customer segments within our CRM. Work with Director of Growth Marketing to develop different targeted promotions that can be activated as needed.

Ensure email lists are optimized for their respective campaigns and assist in the development of customized lists tailored to both email and digital marketing campaigns.

Required Qualifications:

2-4 years’ experience in digital marketing/advertising, communications, business administration, or a related industry.

Experience managing email campaigns and overseeing email campaign strategy; experience with email marketing software and WYSIWYG editing software(s).

Experience working with CRM and database software such as Salesforce, Zoho, Hubspot, or Tessitura.

Understanding of SEO/SEM best practices.

Functional knowledge of copywriting, graphic design, and HTML.

Demonstrated high degree of adaptability, including experience adapting strategy and approach based on data.

Ability to act independently, take initiative, and meet changing priorities; results and deadline-driven with the ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment.

Successful experience working in, and contributing to, a collaborative team environment.

Desired Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a business-related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience using Tessitura.

Knowledge of social media best practices.

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.

Interest in performing arts and/or classical music.

This is a salaried, non-union position.

Successful candidates must be available to work a varying schedule, including nights and weekends, to meet the needs of the DSO’s performance schedule.
