JOB TITLE: Concessions Manager 

REPORTS TO: Front of House Director 

FLSA STATUS: Full-Time, Salary, Exempt 

COMPENSATION RATE: $50,000 annually 

Union: Non-Union 

LOCATION: 170 N. Dearborn St., Chicago, IL 60601 

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Concessions Manager is a critical leadership position within Goodman’s Front of House (FOH) team and is responsible for all lobby concession offerings across all bars and gift stores at its 170 N Dearborn St. location as well as the management of the part-time team of Front of House Associates. In collaboration with the Front of House Director, this role will establish and maintain policies that guarantee the highest level of customer service throughout The Goodman’s concessions operation. This is a full-time, salaried position that requires regular afternoon, evening, weekend, and holiday availability to provide observation, management, and additional support of the concessions’ operations and processes.    

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Recruit, train, schedule, and consistently evaluate a team of 20+ part-time FOH Associates under the IATSE 750 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)   

Ensure union compliance, including proper allocation of duties, responsibilities and break schedules    

Maintain performance documentation and conduct disciplinary discussions in collaboration with the Front of House Director as needed   

Develop, maintain, and enforce FOH customer service guidelines in collaboration with the Front of House Director.  

Collaborate with the Front of House Director on development and maintenance of yearly Concessions budgets   

Represent the Front of House department at assigned interdepartmental meetings as needed     

Ensure efficient and thorough preparation, cleanliness and timely maintenance of all concessions areas    

Build, coordinate, and maintain product offerings and menus for lobby bars, gift store, and Patrons’ Lounge in collaboration with Goodman Theatre’s Graphic Design and Development departments, and the Front of House Director   

Serve as the primary contact for all concessions vendors and distributors ensuring timely product orders by established deadlines   

Monitor and submit monthly concessions inventory    

Ensure that Goodman patrons have a superior experience while visiting all concessions stations within Goodman Theatre venues   

Directly supervise the on-shift Front of House and Guest Services staff during performance/event shifts, serving as a House Manager on duty or other support roles as assigned  

Serve as emergency coverage for the FOH Associate team to ensure a smooth operation   

Other duties as assigned    

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:  

At least 4 years’ experience working in audience services, concessions, hospitality or another related field preferred. At least 2 years of supervisory experience are preferred 

Excellent customer service skills   and the ability to work independently or as part of a team and thrives in a fast-paced environment where multitasking is required 

Skilled problem solver 

Is highly organized; a creative, strategic thinker capable of evolving ideas into practical plans.
