JOB TITLE: Casting Assistant 

REPORTS TO: Casting Director 

FLSA STATUS: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt 

COMPENSATION RATE: $18.75 per hour (approx. $39,000 annually) 

LOCATION: 170 N. Dearborn St., Chicago, IL 60601(Hybrid Eligible) 

POSITION SUMMARY:  

An integral part of the Goodman Theatre’s Casting Department, the Casting Assistant works with the Casting Director and Casting Coordinator to assist in casting all Goodman productions, readings and workshops. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Work with Casting Director and Casting Coordinator to ascertain and facilitate directors’ needs on productions  

Assist in the upkeep of casting department files, both hard-copy and digital  

Assist in coordinating audition logistics including space reservations, materials, and set up  

Work in conjunction with the Casting Director to help train the Casting Intern (when applicable)  

Work with the Casting Intern in the scheduling of audition appointments with agents and actors, as well as the preparation of audition materials (when applicable)  

Work with the Casting Director to facilitate the ongoing relationship with Actors’ Equity Association (regarding contracts, auditions, casting statistics, and casting procedures)  

Attend local productions, showcases, and other actor-related events with a special attention toward the non-Equity acting community  

Assist the Casting Director and Casting Coordinator with all other aspects of actor relations within the Goodman Theatre and the Artistic Department  

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:  

Previous experience in casting and theater performance  

Exemplary interpersonal and communications skills  

Strong organization, social and management skills  

Detail oriented and multitasks efficiently  

Experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams)  

Experience with ArtsVision and BreakdownExpress a plus  

BA or BFA degree in Theatre or related fields preferred
