Production Coordinator

Hancher Auditorium is seeking a Production Coordinator to serve as a key operational and strategic partner bridging Hancher’s Production and Programming & Engagement teams—supporting the planning and execution of performances, residencies, and engagement activities, with particular attention to residency events that include a public component—and ensuring cohesive communication, efficient resource management, and a seamless experience for artists, staff, students, and audiences.

o Develop and maintain the artist advance sheet for residencies & special events—a comprehensive reference covering all major aspects of an artist’s time in Iowa City, from arrival and lodging through residency, production, and performance to departure—ensuring accuracy, timely distribution, and ongoing updates in coordination with Programming & Engagement and Production colleagues.

o Support the planning and execution of visiting artist engagements and residency activities, coordinating to resolve conflicts between residency and performance/production schedules & entering engagement information into the various software platforms that give the entire Hancher team visibility into an artist’s commitments in Iowa City

o Support the Programming & Engagement Specialist in compiling the forthcoming season’s organizational document—capturing information critical to Box Office, Marketing & Communication, and Production—working in cooperation to ensure appropriate support is communicated across all departments

Hancher is a university arts presenter with over 50 years of history, housed in a facility opened in 2016. Presenting 80+ events annually across dance, music, theater, comedy & multidisciplinary projects, Hancher brings artists to the University of Iowa campus and the wider Eastern Iowa community. Hancher reports to the Office of Performing Arts and Engagement within the Office of the Provost, which oversees Hancher, stewards collaboration across the UI performing arts campus, and assists with overall development of the UI’s creative campus.
