Position: Audio Technical Manager
Location: Santa Barbara, CA
Status: Seasonal, Full-time, Exempt
Employment Period: June 10 through August 13, 2019

Position Description
The Audio Technical Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of audio technology needs for the Music Academy. Duties include managing audio and electronic needs for concerts and masterclasses, as well as live streamed events. The Audio Technical Manager reports to the Venues Manager and works closely with Music Academy administration, faculty, guest artists, and fellows.
Position Responsibilities
• Manage audio reinforcement set up, implementation, and troubleshooting for applicable events on the Miraflores campus
• Manage audio and electronic instrument equipment for applicable events on the Miraflores campus
• Train Music Academy production personnel in basic operation of audio equipment as needed
• Procure electronic gear for concerts and rehearsals as needed
• Prepare Miraflores campus for the start of the summer festival

Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of audio reinforcement for live spoken word and music events
• Knowledge of classical repertoire
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with ArtsVision
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Excellent critical thinking, strategic planning, and problem solving skills
• Independently motivated
• Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work on a team and adapt to changing work priorities
• Positive and professional demeanor
• Previous summer festival experience
• Class C Driver’s License with proof of Personal Liability Insurance

Additional Requirements
Some nights and weekends may be required.
Traveling between Miraflores campus and off-site venues is frequently required.

Reporting Structure
The Audio Technical Manager reports to the Venues Manager.
Compensation and Benefits
• Flat-rate salary range is $4,000-$5,000 commensurate to experience to be paid per the Academy’s payroll schedule
• Housing, in the form of private room in a shared house, is included during the employment period
• Seasonal positions are ineligible for Music Academy benefits except where required by law.
