Position: Stage Crew (3 positions)
Location: Santa Barbara, CA
Status: Seasonal, Full-time, Non-Exempt
Employment Period: June 10 through August 13, 2019

Position Description
The Stage Crew is responsible for the day-to-day production needs of the Music Academy’s eight week summer festival. Duties include stage managing events in Hahn Hall as well as providing support for events held in off-campus venues. The members of the stage crew report to the Venues Manager and will work closely with Music Academy administration, faculty, guest artists, and fellows.
Responsibilities
• Work as stage manager or stage crew for events on the Miraflores campus as assigned by the Venues Manager
• Work with Venues Manager to prepare Miraflores campus for the start of the summer festival
• Work with the Percussion Manager to move percussion instruments for rehearsals and performances
• Act as stage crew for events at off-site venues as assigned
• Operate live sound equipment during Music Academy events as assigned
• Assist the Artistic Operations department in other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of classical music production
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs
• Ability to read music
• Experience with theatre audio and lighting
• Experience with ArtsVision
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Excellent critical thinking, strategic planning, and problem solving skills
• Independently motivated
• Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work on a team and adapt to changing work priorities
• Positive and professional demeanor
• Previous summer festival experience
• Class C Driver’s License with proof of Personal Liability Insurance

Additional Requirements
Some nights and weekends may be required.
Traveling between Miraflores campus and off-site venues is frequently required.

Reporting Structure
The Stage Crew reports to the Venues Manager.
Compensation and Benefits
• Hourly wage of $12 – $13 per hour, commensurate to experience.
• Seasonal positions are ineligible for Music Academy benefits except where required by law.
