Park City Opera is currently looking for a Rehearsal Pianist/Coach to join our production team for Charles Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette in Summer 2026.

Job Summary:
The Rehearsal Pianist/Coach is responsible for accompanying staging and musical rehearsals and providing supplemental musical coachings for Park City Opera’s Summer 2026 production of Roméo et Juliette at the Eccles Center. This position plays a central role in supporting the singers, conductor, and stage director throughout the rehearsal and performance process.

Job Timeline & Payment

– Chorus Rehearsals to begin as early as July 10
– Production Period: August 1 to August 18 (Piano Dress)
– Performances: August 21 and August 23

Total Stipend: $1500–$2000, depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

– Provide piano accompaniment for music rehearsals, staging rehearsals, and other calls as scheduled
– Collaborate closely with the Conductor, Stage Director, and production team to support musical and dramatic goals
– Coach principal and/or ensemble singers on rhythm, pitch, diction (French), ensemble, and stylistic considerations as requested
– Support singers in learning roles and maintaining musical accuracy throughout the rehearsal process
– Adjust playing to accommodate staging needs, tempi changes, cuts, repeats, and rehearsal pacing
– Attend rehearsals, production meetings, technical rehearsals, and dress rehearsals as required
– Maintain clear communication with stage management regarding rehearsal needs, schedules, and musical logistics
– Be available to take and address musical notes and adjustments throughout rehearsals and performances

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
– Strong piano skills with the ability to perform operatic piano reductions fluently
– Prior experience as a rehearsal pianist and/or vocal coach, particularly in classical or operatic repertoire
– Strong proficiency in French diction
– Familiarity with rehearsal room etiquette and standard production protocols
– Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, small-company environment
– Availability for flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by the rehearsal and performance schedule
