As the California Capital region’s premier orchestral and operatic group, the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera (SP&O) specializes in performing large-scale symphonic and operatic works. We perform nine performances for over 15,000 attendees a year, provide a wide range of education and engagement activities for students and community members annually, and partner with organizations such as the Sacramento Ballet and the City of Sacramento for engagements such as the Nutcracker and Harry Potter.
We are in an exciting period of growth, with a clear vision for the future and a dedicated Board, staff, and musician base. We’re currently seeking a skilled and collaborative Development and Marketing Coordinator to join our team as we continue our mission to enrich lives and elevate cultural experiences through symphonic and opera music in the Greater Sacramento Region.
Reporting to the Director of Development and Special Projects (DDSP), the Development and Marketing Coordinator (DMC) will provide crucial support in all matters pertaining to fundraising and marketing for the SP&O. From fundraising administrative work to digital marketing support, and from data entry and reporting to design work on campaigns, the DMC will help ensure the SP&O continues to bring in the resources necessary to carry out its mission – all while supporting the creative spirit of our organization.

COMPENSATION: $25/hour. This is a full-time, 40 hour/week, non-exempt position and will require some work on evenings and weekends for rehearsals and concerts.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

General
• With DDSP, maintain overall fundraising and marketing calendars for the season.
• All duties as directed by the DDSP and, where applicable, CEO, including, but not limited to, all
below duties and all other work functions as assigned.

Fundraising Support
• Enter all donations and donor communications into Spektrix (SP&O ticketing and fundraising
database) as they come in.
• Prepare and send out Weekly Contributed Revenue Report (WCRR).
• Manage all donor thank yous, including sending out acknowledgement letter, board members
thanking donors in their portfolios, etc.
• Pull donor and ticket buying lists for all broadbase campaigns.
• Lead digital fundraising efforts, including Big Day of Giving (BDOG) campaign.
• Maintain Board Member Portfolios (giving history, contact information, etc.)
• Input all Board and Staff communications with Donors into Spektrix.
• Provide administrative support as needed for Development Committee meetings.
• Research potential major donor prospects using Windfall Wealth Screening system.

Marketing
• Create emails based on email copy provided by Marketing Consultant.
• Execute SP&O’s digital marketing plan – social media, website, digital advertising, etc.
• Coordinate orders and purchasing of SP&O collateral, promotional items, and wearables.
• Create SP&O concert programs, ensuring all relevant information is included.
• Pull lists for all marketing projects, including telemarketing lists, postcards/brochures, subscription renewals, pre- and post-concert attendee lists, etc.
• Attend select rehearsals and work with musicians to capture content for digital marketing.
Event Support
• For performances, transport all necessary SP&O items and materials to concert venue; ensure
Donor Lounge and Marketing table are set-up.
• For SP&O Special Events (Donor Soirees, fundraising events, etc.), make and send out invitations;
keep track of RSVPs to events.
• Stand at the Marketing table for performances, answering questions, helping donors sign up for
donations as applicable, etc.

• Solid computer and administrative skills.
• Aptitude for technology and learning new technological systems.
• A desire to work closely with artists and musicians through the work.

Requirements
• Comfort with learning organizational systems and processes.
• Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends.
• Valid California Driver’s License, and ability to transport self to and from the office, SP&O
events, donor events, etc.
• Ability to lift and carry 30–40 lbs, and stand for extended periods of time when working events.
• Experience working with software including Canva, Adobe, etc. preferred
• Must be able to do desk and computer work for extended periods of time.
