Job Announcement:
TPAC is seeking an experienced Lead Event Technical Director to provide leadership for our Event Technical Directors and oversee the technical execution of performances and events across our venues. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with extensive experience in theatrical carpentry, rigging, stage operations, and production management who thrives in a fast-paced performing arts environment. The successful candidate will partner with visiting productions, resident companies, internal departments, and union crews to ensure every event is executed safely, efficiently, and with exceptional professionalism.

In addition to leading a team of Event Technical Directors, this position manages technical planning, scheduling, crew supervision, and backstage operations while fostering a collaborative culture focused on safety, communication, and employee well-being. The Lead Event Technical Director also serves as a technical expert in audio and electrical systems when needed, oversees rigging and scenic maintenance, supports long-term equipment planning, and helps ensure TPAC continues to deliver world-class experiences for artists, audiences, and clients alike.

Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in Technical Theatre or a related field (or equivalent professional experience), experience supervising technical production staff, and demonstrated expertise in theatrical rigging, carpentry, and stage operations. Experience working with union crews and interpreting collective bargaining agreements is required. Experience in a Broadway touring house, regional theatre, or performing arts center, along with ETCP certification or other technical certifications, is highly desirable.

This position requires a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
