Position Overview
The Production Electrician supports the Electrics Department in maintaining lighting equipment and electrical infrastructure and executing lighting systems for performances, rehearsals, and events across TPAC’s four theaters, support spaces, and lobbies. This role works hands-on with lighting systems while collaborating with internal teams, resident companies, and touring productions to deliver high-quality, safe, and professional technical support.

Primary Responsibilities
Contributes to a team-based culture focused on respect, communication, inclusivity, and collaboration.
Collaborate with and assist the Technical Operations department as needed.
Use sound principles of theatrical lighting to appropriately support live performances and events across a wide range of genres, in alignment with artistic intent and event requirements.
Support production advance by assisting with review of technical riders, assessing lighting equipment needs, and communicating requirements to supervisors.
Assist clients, touring productions, and internal users with lighting-related needs under the direction of senior staff.
Work lighting calls for events ranging from small meetings to large-scale productions, including load-ins, rehearsals, performances, and load-outs.
Respond to requests from supervisors and event leadership to support or clarify lighting and electrical requirements.
Maintain awareness of evolving industry trends, systems, and best practices related to theatrical lighting and live event production.
Serve as an assigned electrician or board operator for productions and events.
Assist in supervising stagehands and over-hire labor for assigned calls or events.
Work collaboratively with touring technicians, designers, and artists during event calls.
Adjust work activities during events to support changing production needs while maintaining safety and efficiency.
Assist with maintenance, organization, and proper use of lighting equipment, control systems, and workspaces.
Support inventory tracking and preparation of lighting equipment for events.
Assist with troubleshooting lighting systems and report issues to supervisors.
Follow all safety protocols and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment for staff, artists, and patrons.

Skills and Knowledge
Required:
In-depth knowledge of theatrical systems & equipment.
Understanding of fundamentals of electricity and power distribution.
Ability to manage staff and equipment.
Strong knowledge of networking lighting systems.
Understanding of lighting techniques required for live performances.
Understanding of design principles and aesthetics required for some events.

Preferred:
A theatrical degree or equivalent is highly desired.
Bilingual

Software and Services Used
Computer knowledge of various software (i.e. Excel, Word, Vectorworks, Lightwrite)
In-depth knowledge of theatrical lighting control systems, electrical components and systems, and lighting design (ETC Consoles).

Frequent Functions:
Seeing, color perception, hearing/listening, dexterity (hand and finger).
Ascending/descending stairs, climbing a ladder, pushing/pulling, lifting 50 pounds, moves/transports 50 pounds. Reading complex instructions, writing reports, basic math skills, analysis/comprehension, good judgement/decision making.
