The National Flute Association is seeking a membership intern to assist with convention registration and members in preparation for the NFA’s annual convention in Portland, OR, August, 2026. More information about the NFA is available on the website: NFAonline.org.

May 11-July 31: 8 hours per week, located at the NFA office, downtown Chicago.

Applicants age 22 or younger living in the Chicago area are eligible to apply.

This internship is funded by a Youth Employment in the Arts (YEA) Grant from the Illinois Arts Council.

Arts administration, music education, music and flute students at the bachelors level are encouraged to apply. This internship is for undergraduate students. Graduate and doctoral students are not eligible to apply.

The membership intern must be located within commuting distance of the downtown office in Chicago for the duration of the internship.

The Membership intern will gain hands-on experience in a variety of key areas, including customer service, membership, and convention registration. The intern will be responsible for registration administration in the NFA’s Association Management System (MemberSuite), liaising with musicians, students, exhibitors, and attendees on their convention registration, and building engagement with flute ensemble members and students. The Membership Intern is based in the Chicago office, working alongside the Operations Manager and Office Intern, and works remotely with the intern supervisor, the Membership Manager. Hours are during regular office hours Monday – Friday as agreed with NFA staff.

Pay:

Stipend for Membership Intern May 11 – July 31: Approximately $1,600 based on $16.60 per hour, 8 hours per week for 12 weeks
• College credit available
• NFA membership
• Transportation allowance of $5.00 per day (parking is not provided)

Note that all paid office internships require that candidates reside in the US and have work eligibility in the US. The NFA does not provide visas for any internships.
