Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of technical production practices in live performance, including lighting, audio, video, projection, and stagecraft
Working understanding of classical, jazz, choral, operatic, and chamber music performance needs
Knowledge of safety regulations, rigging standards, and ADA compliance in performance venues
Familiarity with budgeting, inventory management, and equipment maintenance cycles
Understanding of pedagogical environments and the intersection of academic and performance needs
Skills:
Proficiency in operating and programming lighting consoles (e.g., ETC Ion), digital audio consoles (e.g., Yamaha, Allen & Heath), and playback software (e.g., QLab)
Skilled in setting up and troubleshooting sound reinforcement, video recording, projection, and livestreaming systems
Skilled in supervising and training technical staff, including students and part-time workers
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, stage plots, lighting paperwork, and cue sheets
Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a high-volume environment
Abilities:
Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment under pressure, particularly during live performances
Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with faculty, students, guest artists, and administrative staff
Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 50 lbs.) and work at heights or in low-light conditions as needed
Ability to collaborate in a diverse, team-oriented academic environment while modeling professionalism and respect
Ability to adapt quickly to changing production needs and creatively solve technical or logistical challenges in real time
