About Us
The Symphony Orchestra of Northern Virginia (SONOVA) is a community orchestra of 60+ musicians. We perform concerts that blend classical and modern music in creative (and sometimes unexpected) ways! Each season, we partner with local groups to create performances that connect music with the community.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Front of House Lead to work in person at each of our five concerts during the 2025–2026 season. This role is ideal for someone friendly, reliable, and detail-oriented who has hands-on experience in live event management.
Responsibilities
– Welcome guests and check tickets at the door.
– Set up the box office and manage ticket/merchandise sales.
– Manage volunteer sign-ups; guide ushers and box office helpers.
– Coordinate with partner organizations at concerts.
– Work ~5 hours the week before each concert to confirm volunteers, assemble will-call lists, and check in with the Executive Director.
– Work ~5 hours the day of the concert running the box office and ensuring a smooth experience for patrons.

– Sun, Oct 19, 2025 · 3 PM – Come On Down: The SONOVA Game Show (George Washington Masonic National Memorial)
– Sun, Dec 14, 2025 · 3 PM – Brassy Jazzy Christmas (Lee Center Kauffman Auditorium)
– Sat, Feb 7, 2026 · 7 PM – Symphonic Jukebox: SONOVA Goes Vinyl (George Washington Masonic National Memorial)
– Sat, Apr 25, 2026 · 7 PM – Of Legends and Lore (Bishop Ireton High School)
– Sat, May 30, 2026 · 3 PM – Pictures at an Alexandria Exhibition (Schlesinger Concert Hall)
Requirements
– At least 18 years old.
– Able to drive, ride, or walk to concert venues.
– Comfortable using a smartphone to scan tickets and troubleshoot issues.
– Available for ~5 hours the week prior to each concert for prep tasks and 5 hours the day of the concert.
– Communicates clearly via email and SMS.
– Accurate, detail-oriented, and reliable.
– Trustworthy, engaging, and welcoming with patrons.
– Strong organizational and verbal communication skills.
– Lift objects up to 25 lbs.
Compensation
$200 per concert
