What are the main duties?

Assist with all production-related functions backstage and front of house.

Coordinate and act as liaison for the technical needs of performers, artists, contractors, crews, building users, and other groups.

Ensure safety protocols and procedures are followed.

Direct and participate in the loading and unloading of equipment, props, and other materials.

Provide on-site production assistance.

Operate sound and lighting controls, and various software programs specific to stage production.

Ensure needed equipment is procured in time for performances and events.

Maintain inventory of all Center equipment.

Assist contractors performing services and ensure adherence to established terms.

Assist with analyzing project plans and estimating costs and materials.

Assist other staff members and perform other related duties as required.

What are the minimum requirements?

Provo City will accept equivalent combinations of job-related education and experience [substituting each 1 year of post-secondary education/training for 6 months of experience].

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).

Two (2) years of professional experience in technical theater operations or technical production services.

A valid, lawful Driver License.

Prefer Associate’s degree in Fine Arts with emphasis in Theater Technology.

What is the schedule?

This position requires flexible, non-traditional work hours including evenings and weekends as directed by the performance schedule.

What are the physical and environmental factors?

This position involves long shifts, walking, bending, climbing ladders, stooping, reaching, lifting up to 70 lbs., quick movements to exit dangerous situations, assuming uncomfortable positions for extended periods of time, working at heights of up to 80 feet, and exposure to dangerous equipment, hazardous settings and high voltages. May also include exposure to high stress situations or environments, including handling emergency situations, meeting strict deadlines, contact with individuals in confrontational or uncomfortable circumstances, and other stressful conditions related to the workplace.

If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
