Artistic Administrator
Part-time, independent contractor

Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, 21V is a professional ensemble of soprano and alto voices of all gender identities. Founded in 2021 by Dr. Martín Benvenuto, 21V explores a broad identity of contemporary American music by focusing on music of the 21st century of the three Americas, and challenging existing boundaries and assumptions – both artistically and socially. 21V aims to serve as a beacon for a new generation of treble music lovers, while at the same time inspire awareness and advocacy for underrepresented American continent perspectives.

JOB TITLE: Artistic Administrator (5-7 hours per week)

REPORTS TO: Artistic Director

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES (all 4 areas preferred; scope negotiable):
The Artistic Administrator (AA) is responsible for managing or supporting the following administrative duties of 21V. The AA works in close partnership with the Artistic Director (AD) and 21V collaborators to support the mission of 21V.

Prior to Performance Days:
Manage all project productions including securing rehearsal and performance venues, booking video and audio engineers, and coordinating the logistical requirements of performances.
Identify and execute strategies for ticket sales, including tracking of sales, distribution of comp tickets, and creating and managing an audience database.
Day of Performance:
Ensure box office procedure efficiency and customer service.
Manage and help with recruitment of Front of House staff/volunteers on performance days.

Marketing and Publicity
Create and oversee an overall marketing calendar for 21V.
Maintain a segmented mailing list of friends and supporters of 21V.
Develop and maintain relationships with press contacts, and arts organizations to promote 21V activities.
In partnership with and under the direction of the AD, design digital and printed graphic marketing and development materials (or work in coordination with a graphic designer), including concert programs, advertisements, and newsletters.
Manage and update the 21V website and social media sites (with original content + content provided by others).

Singer and Artistic Support
In coordination with the AD:
Manage singer and guest artist contracts.
Facilitate communication with singers and collaborators with respect to performance and project logistics.

Act as “thought partner” for the AD in the assessment of organizational needs and issues, and make recommendations for improvements/growth.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, have independence over when and where they work, and will enjoy the excitement of building an innovative new arts organization, where relationships thrive on connection, collaboration, and trust. This position will require approximately 5-7 hours per week on average. In-person availability for 21V performances is preferred.

Experience managing a chorus or other arts organization. Passion for new choral music and alignment with the Mission, Vision and Values of 21V.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Attention to detail and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Proficiency/ability to learn the programs and platforms 21V uses:
Google Workspace
Mailchimp (email marketing platform)
Wix (website management)
Canva (graphic design tool)
TicketSpice (ticketing platform)
Interest in structuring and kicking off new initiatives.

COMPENSATION: $8,000-10,500 per year (depending on agreed scope of duties)

INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR: As an independent contractor, the Artistic Administrator would be responsible for payment of all taxes and would not be eligible for benefits.
