Arts Ed NJ, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has an immediate opening for a part-time Programs and Communications Associate. The role supports key programs, communications, and outreach efforts that advance the mission of the organization. This role plays a vital part in elevating statewide visibility for arts education, cultivating relationships with school districts, engaging diverse stakeholders, and executing grassroots and signature programs such as the Governor’s Awards in Arts Education and Arts Ed Now campaigns.

The ideal candidate has familiarity with the K-12 public school system and arts education ecosystem of New Jersey. The candidate is able to think creatively and strategically about how to engage and advocate across disciplines. They have the ability to develop and maintain authentic relationships with various stakeholders and possess the ability to successfully assist with producing, promoting and implementing concurrent projects.

Key Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

1. NJ Governor’s Awards in Arts Education (NJGAAE) Planning Council Advisor (40%)
Assume full administrative accountability for the program, encompassing prompt correspondence, invoice management, and the compilation of meeting materials.
Provide support to the Co-Chairs (Arts Ed NJ and the NJ Department of Education) in the review and revision of policies and procedures for the NJGAAE Program and all related documentation.
Serve as the primary point of contact for Planning Council Members.
Ascertain and confirm the logistical arrangements for each participating organization’s event, and subsequently verify all event details with the designated co-chairs.
Attend and represent the NJ Governor’s Awards in Arts Education program at the Planning Council’s Governor’s Award events.
Provide precise and punctual preparation of meeting agendas and subsequent meeting minutes.
Support the Development staff with Governor’s Awards sponsorships and ads, and Arts Ed NJ’s Governor’s Awards event planning

2. Communications & Content Creation (15%)
Provide support in the creation and scheduling of email campaigns, newsletters, and social media content.
Support internal and external communications (newsletters, social media, website, signage)
Assist with developing alumni/donor engagement strategies and communications
Update and maintain website content, ensuring clarity and accessibility.
Create, organize, and maintain a digital media library of photos, videos, and assets.
Support campaign toolkits, print collateral, and advocacy messaging.
Manage social media strategies across platforms; create graphics, videos, slideshows for the following accounts @ArtsEdNJ @NJGAAE @ArtsEdSEL and @ArtsEdNow

3. Program Support & Outreach (30%)
Data Collection, Organizing, and Data Entry, including the Annual School Board Candidate Survey
Attend district-wide Visual and Performing Arts events at various locations throughout the school year.
Help manage logistics, including scheduling meetings and follow-up.
Engage directly with school and community partners to gather photos, stories, and data.
Support student-centered initiatives and promote visibility of arts programs statewide.
Support the Development staff with two fundraising mailings annually

4. Administration & Collaboration (15%)
Attend and document relevant team meetings, committees, and partner calls.
Track metrics and compile reports for communications and program activities.
Provide administrative support as needed (e.g., file management, scheduling, contact database).
Website Maintenance as needed

Qualifications
Experience with hosting live streams, video editing, and interviewing is a plus.
Graphic Design Experience
Familiarity with WordPress is a plus
A solid eye for detail and composition
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High-level organizational skills, willingness, and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Self-motivated and capable of working independently
The desired individual must possess a passion for the arts as well as an ability to interact effectively with people of different cultures and experiences, within an organizational culture that works to be free from prejudice and aggression.
Proficiency with Canva, Google Workspace, and social media platforms
Detail-oriented, highly organized, and deadline-driven
Creative thinker with an interest in storytelling and visual communication
Experience or interest in arts education, advocacy, or nonprofit communications
Spanish language skills are a plus

Working Conditions:
Our physical office is located at 432 High Street. Burlington, NJ 08016, and is available to all staff.
While this position will primarily function remotely, some in-person time at various outreach events, fundraisers, and meetings will be required.
A valid New Jersey Driver’s License and reliable transportation for travel within New Jersey are required.
Working outside of standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, is expected.

Compensation: This position is a part-time salary role beginning August 2025 and running through the end of Arts Ed NJ’s fiscal year on June 30, 2026, with the potential for an extension. This is a part-time role at 20 hours per week at $22 an hour.
