Renowned for its performances and commitment to both classical masterpieces and contemporary compositions, the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia (COP) is a beloved performing arts organization for audiences and critics alike. As a founding resident company of The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, COP has been at the forefront of Philadelphia’s performing arts scene. Founded in 1964 as the Concerto Soloists, COP brings the intimate experience of world-class chamber music to the Greater Philadelphia area.

COP is passionate to share music with a broader community through live concerts and community programs that increase economic accessibility for everyone. COP strives to perform works by American living composers with a focus on those who have traditionally been underrepresented. We are proud to provide free public concerts in local neighborhoods, free and low-cost tickets for veterans, students, and underserved audiences at our mainstage concerts; and offer broadcasts on WRTI. COP performs 30+ subscription and outreach concerts per year, often sold out, in a mix of venues throughout the region for enthusiastic audiences from all walks of life. COP also produces its Orchestra in the Garden Series presented in outdoor public spaces that provides a casual atmosphere while deepening community values.

This season, the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia (COP) welcomes its new Music Director, David Hayes. Mr. Hayes is a conductor with an unusually broad range of repertory, spanning the symphonic, oratorio/choral and operatic genres. As the orchestra embarks on this exciting chapter, Hayes brings with him a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to lead the ensemble forward. Under his leadership, audiences can anticipate inspiring concerts and innovative programming that will delight and engage music lovers of all ages.
