POSITION OVERVIEW

The Concessioner is responsible for maintaining operations and assisting customers in the lobby pub as well as the concession stands. This position assists in setting the example and ensuring the highest level of guest experience. This is a seasonal role with dates of employment being January 23, 2024 through March 20, 2024. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

– Drives IDEA to Action platform by engaging in committees, events, training and other initiatives as needed.
– Models CST’s core values of service, ingenuity, and collaboration as well as its customer service ethos.
– Champions the organization’s commitment to a respectful, inclusive and equitable workplace.
– Greet and serving guests at the registers; taking orders and serving snacks and beverages to customers in a fast-paced environment.
– Cash handling and accepting payments via debit and credit cards
– Reconciling sales reports and registers at the end of every shift
– Replenishing concessions serving stations
– Cleaning and maintaining orderly counters, service areas, and concessions displays
– Managing inventory; assessing inventory and preparing product orders as necessary
– Stocking and restocking inventory items as necessary
– Expediting resolution of patron conflicts and concerns, elevating to the House Manager as necessary
– In the event of an emergency, directing patrons and staff to safety
– Breaking down concessions areas before the end of show for patron egress
– Additional duties as assigned

WORK ENVIRONMENT

– Work hours generally begin 2 hours before any public performance and end once closing tasks are completed.
– Overtime hours may occur.
– Evening, weekend, and holiday hours will be necessary.
– Worksite is primarily at the CST facilities on Navy Pier in Chicago, IL but will at times work in other locations such as City Parks or other off-site performance venues.
– Will regularly be required to wear PPE during work activities.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

– Must be over 21 years of age
– Must provide proof of BASSET certification or be willing to undergo BASSET certification process

ADDITIONAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

– Prior concessions and bar experience preferred including Square or other POS systems
– Previous experience in the hospitality industry in a professional venue.
– Generally proficient with computers, iPads, Square hardware, and basic office equipment

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 which means 14 days has passed since obtaining 2 doses of a primary series with Pfizer, Moderna, or Novavax or a single dose of Johnson & Johnson. Proof of vaccination must be provided before beginning work with Chicago Shakespeare Theater or a request for a qualifying exemption must be submitted and approved prior to beginning work.
