Job Summary
The Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM) is seeking an Admission Coordinator to assist the Admission Office in identifying, recruiting and enrolling the world’s most talented classical music students. The Admission Coordinator is the first point of contact for prospective conservatory, preparatory and public programs students and their family members. This position will have a focus on the Conservatory and will represent the institution locally, nationally and virtually at college fairs and recruitment events, while assisting with Preparatory and Public Programs recruitment and admission efforts as needed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Counsel and prepare prospective conservatory students and their families on the aspects of applying and auditioning at a conservatory.
Support faculty and staff recruitment efforts by identifying target rich environments and building and maintaining strong relationships with music organizations and schools.
Support faculty and staff during peak recruitment and admission times, articulating processes and procedures as well as receiving and retaining valuable feedback needed for decision making.
Plan on-campus and virtual recruitment events such as: open houses (prospective and admitted students), audition days, college fairs, school visits and summer programs.
Manage the audition schedule and process recorded audition materials.
Assist in enhancing on-campus experiences for visiting families.
Train and supervise work-study students.
Collaborate with other offices within CIM to make the enrollment process smooth for admitted students.
Build and maintain the Conservatory application.
Utilize the application database to manage student applications, analyze enrollment data, construct marketing mailings, plan events and manage admission decisions.
Manage the communication plan for both prospective students and applicants.
Maintain and update the admission section of the CIM website as needed.
Create and present admission presentations to a variety of audiences for recruitment purposes.
Manage daily email and phone calls to the Admission Office.
Assist with Preparatory and Public Programs admission efforts as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance, Music Education, Composition, Fine Arts, Music Administration, or related field
Familiarity with college and university program admission requirements and processes
Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including work with multi-cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting traditionally underrepresented communities in classical music.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Excellent active listening, public speaking, customer service, and interpersonal skills (written and verbal)
Must be detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and stay organized within a time sensitive and goal-oriented environment
Willingness to guide others and provide ongoing support within decision making processes
Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 products including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams
Able to take concrete steps to build a more diverse and equitable future of classical music.
Preferred
Experience in college admissions
Classical music, performing arts, or an orchestral background
Possess some database management skills.
Knowledge of Slate by Technolutions

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
Most of the work will be completed in an office environment
95% of the time sitting, with heavy PC and phone usage
Must be willing to travel (total of two-month travel season)
Must be available for longer work hours and some weekends during peak admissions time
