Internship Summary – The Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA) seeks an Education Intern to support the Director of Education. The CAPA Education Internship is a great opportunity for the right candidate to gain experience in an energetic and established non-profit organization. This intern will interact with many of the departments which enable CAPA to carry out its mission.

Special Information: This internship begins in early September for fall semester internships, and mid-January for spring semester internships. Yearlong internships are also available for the right candidate. We are looking for a candidate who can commit to an average of 15 hours per week. This is an unpaid internship with a living stipend of $500 per semester. Free parking is included.


In general, intern tasks may include, but are not limited to:

Assisting with marketing and research projects.
Various writing tasks.
Staffing events of various kinds.
Database development and input.
Poster and flier distribution.
Filing and photocopying.
Professionally representing the organization to outside businesses through phone calls and courier duties.
Various administrative tasks.
Compiling and coordinating reports.
Assisting with Passport to Learning performances.
Assisting with registration of master classes and workshops.
Creating social media content.

Learning Experiences:

Learn how to design and manage complex projects.
Observe select master classes and workshops with elite industry professionals.
Develop hands-on event planning experience.
Learn day-to-day operations of performing arts non-profit organizations.
Sharpen administrative and organizational skills.
Gain experience in nonprofit and arts management.


Advanced computer skills required, including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Must be comfortable on the phone and have a pleasant manner.
Must be comfortable using various social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
A background in theatre/performing arts is not mandatory, but an appreciation for the performing arts is necessary to develop an understanding of and commitment to the position.
