DANCECleveland seeks a part-time Institutional Giving Manager to work in our Cleveland, OH office. Hybrid or remote working arrangements are also possible and can be discussed during the interview process, with a preference for candidates located in Northeast Ohio.

About DANCECleveland
DANCECleveland’s mission is to bring the passion and verve of contemporary and modern dance to the hearts and minds of people in northeast Ohio. We accomplish this by:

  • Presenting an annual dance series of performances at Playhouse Square and across northeast Ohio, curated to highlight the breadth of the art form and to showcase nationally and internationally renowned choreographers and companies
  • Enhancing the performance experience with a series of programs designed to build a greater understanding of dance and the works being presented
  • Offering a wide range of creative educational programming, including masterclasses and the celebrated Read to Learn…Dance to Move literacy program for pre-k and kindergarten students

As a curator, commissioner, and collaborator, DANCECleveland works to advance the art form of dance within our community. We are one of just a few stand-alone, dance-only presenters in the United States and are a resident company of Playhouse Square. Our 2021-22 season, a celebration of our 65thanniversary, promises to be a bold and inspiring return to live performance with engagements featuring Raphael Xavier, Monica Bill Barnes & Company, A.I.M, MOMIX, Pam Tanowitz Dance, and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.

About the Position
The Institutional Giving Manager works with the Executive Director to develop and implement fundraising strategies that support DANCECleveland’s ongoing activities and our future dreams. The Institutional Giving Manager is responsible for foundation, government, and corporate grants, including but not limited to:

  • Preparing and managing foundation and government grants, including the creation of application packages, reporting, correspondence, and acknowledgment letters.
  • Prospect research and identification of potential corporate sponsorship, foundation, and government grant opportunities, as well as working with the Executive Director to create and implement strategies to pursue these opportunities
  • Maintaining DANCECleveland’s annual development calendar, grants management tools, and all grant-related records and materials
  • Grant recognition, crediting, and acknowledgment correspondence to corporations, elected officials, and funders
  • Tracking and maintaining statistics and impact data for use in annual reports, grant reporting, and submission to Data Arts
  • Assisting the Executive Director and DANCECleveland staff with additional organizational fundraising activities as time allows

They will possess the ability and the demeanor to establish and nurture relationships with a wide variety of organizational funders, and they will be familiar with the landscape of arts organizations, funding systems, and philanthropists across Northeast Ohio. The Institutional Giving Manager will be open-minded and creative, and will be equally at home brainstorming with colleagues, interacting with funders, and working independently.

Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience, and will have a minimum of three years experience in grant writing and contributed revenue generation. Prior experience with corporate sponsorship solicitation, as well as passion for and knowledge of the dance field, is highly preferred. Strong writing and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to proficiently use technology to acquire, manage, and analyze information. While financial management experience is not required, the ability to understand nonprofit organizational and program budgets, and to convey a compelling financial narrative is essential.

Reports to: Executive Director

Status: This is a part-time, salaried, exempt position averaging 20 hours per week.

Salary and Benefits: $30,000-$33,000 per year with partial benefits including an individual coverage health reimbursement arrangement (ICHRA), paid time off, and monthly phone/internet stipend for hybrid/remote work.
