The Social Media & Communications Manager manages Dayton Live’s communication (media & public relations) and social media efforts. Reporting to the Online Presence Director and serving as a part of the Marketing & Communications team, this position involves a high degree of cross-functional coordination in order to effectively develop and deliver content across a multi-channel mix.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

Education:┬áBachelor’s degree in journalism, design, communications, or related field preferred.

Work Experience: Minimum one-year professional experience in social media required. Prior experience working with the press and garnering media stories preferred.

Supervisory Experience: Prior experience managing others not required.

Technical skills: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, email marketing platforms, and social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Snapchat, etc. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite a plus. Excels at project planning and meeting deadlines.

Intangibles: Strong communication skills. Adept at tailoring messages to specific audiences. Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve independently. Able to thrive in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment. Outstanding proofreading skills and attention to detail. Enthusiasm for the performing arts.

Essential Functions:

  • Broaden the exposure of Dayton Live programming and activities across traditional and new media.
    Actively monitor conversations and respond to patrons on social media and manage social media channel content on a project basis.
  • Maintain the daily social media calendar and develop new campaigns that deepen engagement with the Dayton Live brand.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local media, sending out press releases and announcements as needed and pitching general and show-specific stories.
  • Compile media exposure data and regularly report on social media & public relations stories and mentions.
  • Support email marketing, digital marketing, and marketing automation efforts.
  • Conduct and monitor online post-performance surveys for all DAYTON LIVE presentations.
  • Monitor Dayton Live’s public email address.
  • Support production of video content for websites, social media, and on-site use.
  • Directly support the development of internal communications strategies.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned
