ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
The Dayton Ballet, Opera, and Philharmonic share a record of stellar achievement, excellence in presentation, and a deep commitment of service to the greater Dayton region. POSITION SUMMARY
The Chief Marketing Officer has the overall responsibility for meeting the organization’s established annual revenue goals from season subscriptions and single ticket sales. The Director is responsible for the oversight of marketing department staff to assist with the achievement of these goals. He/she also develops and manages DPAA’s brand and image identity, assuring a positive interface with the community that maximizes ticket revenue and strengthens and reinforces efforts to raise contributed income.

SPECIFIC POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Ticket Sales and Advertising
1. Develops strategies and concepts for the promotion of ticket sales for all events and series of DPAA. Handles creative direction and scheduling and placement of all media advertising. Writes copy as required.
2. Manages relationships with key vendors including telemarketing firm, data provider, direct mail house, media outlets, designers, and printers.
3. Oversees the development of all collateral materials for the main season brochure and particular series brochures of the Ballet, Opera, and Philharmonic Orchestra.
4. Oversees the work of the Patron and Promotions Manager, achieving ticket sales priorities and managing the relationship with Ticket Center Stage.
5. Develops audience analytics to determine trends for new and existing markets; manages all audience surveys on behalf of DPAA.
6. Devises strategies for new audience development with a special focus on improving diversity in audience demographics. Runs New Patron Acquisition Program. Directs Affinity Group program on event-by-event basis.
7. Manages the distribution of weekly robo-calls including writing scripts and recording.

Branding and Public Relations
1. Develops the image and brand of DPAA and its supporting art forms of the Ballet, Opera, and Philharmonic Orchestra.
2. Manages media relations overseeing the work of the Communications and Media Manager. Proactively places media announcements about DPAA, identifying interesting stories for each of its art forms working with the Artistic Directors.
3. Manages internal and external communications to assure brand identity and consistent use of standards in promoting DPAA.
4 Determines the style manual for use of the logo and all printed collateral materials for DPAA and its art forms of the Ballet, Opera, and Philharmonic Orchestra.
5. As requested by the President and CEO, provides support and guidance to the volunteer associations for the Ballet, Opera, and Philharmonic to coordinate communication efforts.
6. Manages the production of all printed programs for DPAA, including content creation and relationships with outside vendors.

Electronic Media and Web
1. Supervises the development and updating of the website and web links.
2. Determines the social media strategy and presence for DPAA.
3. Assures consistent brand identity and quality of communications in local, regional, and national media for DPAA communications.
4. Creates promotional videos for DPAA including new season launch.

Marketing Department Administration
1. Develops annual budget of revenue and expenses for the Marketing Department.
2. Oversees staff and coordinates with the Development Department on all collateral material development related to the fundraising and development activities of DPAA.
3. Works closely with the Board Audience Development Committee and its Chair, setting direction for Committee and Subcommittees.
4. Guides pricing/scaling and inventory management.
5. Represents department at performances as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s Degree required (Communication and Marketing desirable).
2. Minimum of seven years’ experience in marketing for nonprofit organizations, performing arts preferred.
3. Minimum of five years’ supervisory experience.
4. Significant experience with customer data management and analytics.
5. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
7. Passion for the performing arts with knowledge of opera, ballet, and orchestra desirable.
8. Web design/HTML skills highly desirable
9. Graphic design skills and background desirable

REPORTING & ACCOUNTABILITY
The CMO participates in an annual performance review with the President and CEO based upon a performance plan for his/her position. The performance plan will include established annual goals for the position and metrics of success. Decisions of compensation are ordinarily reviewed annually and contingent upon the overall performance of the organization. The DPAA is an at will employer in the State of Ohio.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Salary (mid 60s to low 80s) plus benefits package including health and dental insurance, paid vacation leave. Fast-paced environment with events and performances focused between September and June. Fringe benefits include access to attend performances throughout the season.
