generation After over sixty years of dedicated service to the art of classical ballet, Eglevsky Ballet remains at the forefront of dance education and performance on Long Island.
Eglevsky Ballet occupies a 12,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility. As the leading center for complete ballet education on Long Island, the world-class faculty inspires students to fulfill their highest potential within a caring and nurturing environment. Eglevsky Ballet offers comprehensive dance
training for beginners through professionals. With an environment encouraging personal and professional success, Eglevsky Ballet remains the premier institution for quality dance education and
performances in Nassau and Suffolk counties.
The company produces an annual production of “The Nutcracker” with a full orchestra at the Tilles Center of the Performing Arts as well as a mixed-repertory performance, and an in-studio gala performance with guest artists from major ballet and modern companies. Additionally, the school produces its Annual Student Workshop performance and an in-studio presentation for the Lower School and Children’s Division.
Eglevsky Ballet is home to aspiring dancers of all ages in its Children’s Division, Lower School, Upper School, Pre-Professional Training Program, Academy Program, and Adult Divisions. Located in Bethpage, New York (less than an hour away from New York City, the epicenter of dance and culture) Eglevsky Ballet is internationally recognized for exceptional dance training. Former students can be found dancing in top universities and professional training programs around the country as well as dancing in companies such as Carolina Ballet, Collage Dance Collective, American Ballet Theatre, and New York City Ballet.
The Artistic Director position is responsible for overseeing the artistic direction of all productions and managing the programming for the school and outreach initiatives. This role involves close collaboration with the Director of Administration and Manager of Special Projects to ensure the successful execution of artistic, educational, and community engagement activities.

Essential Job Functions:
• Oversee the artistic direction of all season productions and area performances.
• Coordinate with the Director of Administration and Manager of Special Projects to schedule outreach and fundraising performances, including lecture demonstrations, residencies, and other special events.
• Choreograph, stage, and cast the ballets and/or hire guest and faculty choreographers as needed.
• Hire, train, and evaluate rehearsal assistants.
• Establish and enforce production policies and expectations for dancers and performers.
• Hold meetings with parents to communicate important information and updates.
• Schedule rehearsals and work with choreographers and rehearsal assistants to ensure rehearsals are organized and communicated on time, and lead rehearsals with support from choreographers and assistants.
• Hire designers and production crew for performances and collaborate with technical directors at the theater to meet all set design, lighting, and technical production needs.
• Collaborate with the Board of Directors in strategic planning for the organization.
• Support marketing, research, grant applications, or other needs.
School Responsibilities:
• Work closely with the School Principal to manage daily operations and plan long-term programming for classes and students, including (but not limited to) summer intensives, workshops, and special events.
• Coordinate continuing education and professional development for faculty and staff.
• Teach classes across various skill levels.
• Regularly update and maintain the school’s syllabus.
• Hire and assess the performance of instructors, teacher assistants, and guest instructors.
• Design curriculum for workshops and summer intensive programs.
• Provide feedback to all students in collaboration with the faculty. Hold annual conferences with upper-division students and their parents.
• Offer college and career counseling to students, including guidance on national summer intensive programs.
EXPERIENCE:
Extensive experience as a ballet instructor, preferably of all levels, and professional performance experience is required. Work in the non-profit sector is preferred.
A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not necessary.
