FringeArts presents world-class, contemporary performing arts

As the host and main point-of-contact for audience members, the Front of House Manager is responsible for fostering a professional and hospitable atmosphere for patrons, volunteers and artists; an atmosphere that is in sync with the mission and personality of FringeArts.  The FOH Manager must maintain a friendly, approachable, helpful, and professional demeanor at all times.  Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Personally address all customer needs, complaints and inquiries.
  • Attend to any patrons who request assistance with any accessibility needs, such as arranging for accessible seating or providing assisted listening devices.
  • Familiarize yourself with all safety and emergency policies for the venue.
  • Be aware of parking, restaurants, and public services in the area in order to recommend and give directions to patrons
  • Survey the facility, including the bathrooms, waiting areas and house, upon arrival to check for cleanliness and readiness of the facility for patrons. Personally tend to any small house keeping needs or contact the Client Services Manager for janitorial services as needed. Report any unsafe conditions to the Client Services Director and/or other designated staff member on site.
  • Manage and work directly with box office staff to maintain a smoothly functioning box office experience and to ensure that all patrons are seated satisfactorily for their performance.
  • Communicate directly with the stage manager or appointed production staff to ensure that all shows start in a timely fashion.
  • Manage all volunteer staff.  Assign all volunteer ushers their positions, and train and manage them throughout their shifts.
  • Conduct all late-seating in an orderly, safe and discreet manner in order to maintain minimal disturbance during the running of the show
  • Prepare a Front of House Report for immediate distribution to FringeArts staff via email after every show, which includes both a statistical and a narrative summary of the performance.
  • Prepare and execute all post-show needs.
