Under the guidance of Gibney’s Reopening Task Force, the COVID Safety Manager will be responsible for the coordination and management of all COVID safety policies, protocols, and communications.

The incumbent is a member of Gibney’s Operations department and works under the cosupervision of the Managing Director of Advancement & Interim Managing Director of Administration and the Managing Director of Administration.

This full-time, non-exempt position requires on-site presence at Gibney Center, including 890 Broadway and 280 Broadway, in lower Manhattan. Full vaccination is required to enter Gibney Center, as detailed in Gibney’s Vaccination Policy. Work hours may vary, requiring some evenings.



• Verifies all Gibney Center advance vaccination submissions in a timely manner.

• Fields all Gibney Center vaccination exemption requests, in partnership with leadership.

• Manages contact tracing and communication within the Gibney community.

• Coordinates conversations between Gibney leadership and groups/individuals who are not complying with Gibney’s COVID safety policies.

• Verifies vaccination on-site, as needed.


• Completes COVID-19 Compliance, Contact Tracing, Site Safety, OSHA, and other trainings.

• Actively researches, subscribes to, and engages in trainings, convenings, webinars, and seminars, including regular participation in Dance/NYC and Dance Studio Alliance calls.

• Manages real-time updates on COVID and shifts in WHO, CDC, federal, state, and local guidance along with their associated implications on Gibney’s operations.

• Functions as a thought partner in COVID safety judgments and compliance questions.


• Drafts updates to Gibney’s Reopening Plan, COVID webpage and FAQs, signage, COVID-19 management guide, Airborne Infectious Disease Prevention Plan, other resources, and other internal and external communications regularly.

• Fields all COVID-related questions and concerns, in concert with leadership.

• Synthesizes information, news, and updates for weekly staff communications and other ad hoc needs (Board updates, etc.).

• Drafts quarterly community check-ins to provide assurance and receive feedback.


• Participates as an integral member of Gibney’s Reopening Task Force.

• Drafts agendas and distributes weekly meeting minutes.

• Moves action items forward independently and in collaboration with members.
