The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra Development team is responsible for securing the charitable support that drives the many programs put on by the KSO each year. The Development Coordinator is an essential member of that team tasked with maintaining and updating donor records in the CRM Software, executing necessary daily functions within the department such as gift acknowledgement and benefit fulfillment, and supporting the Director of Development in the execution of events, grant applications, and the annual Symphony Ball.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, can prioritize multiple deadlines, has the patience to work through tedious tasks with a commitment to ensuring accuracy and thoroughness, and is able to provide excellent customer service to internal colleagues and partners as well as external stakeholders.

The Development Coordinator reports to the Director of Development.

The Development Coordinator will:
• maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all contributions made to the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra in NeonOne;
• provide accurate and up-to-date reports of all contribution activity as requested and to facilitate reconciliation with the finance team;
• maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patron activity in the CRM software including, but not limited to, meetings with KSO staff and board members, volunteer activity, concert attendance and ticket purchases, and event attendance;
• create and distribute timely acknowledgements of contributions and commitments;
• support the Director of Development in the execution of annual fund campaigns such as direct mail, telefunding, and email campaigns by producing lead files, maintaining accurate records of campaign activity, coordinating with vendors to provide necessary information, and other tasks as required for campaigns to meet budgeted goals;
• maintain the development calendar including grant application deadlines, event dates, birthdays and other important donor anniversaries, etc.;
• maintain sponsorship records and support the Director of Development in providing benefits for sponsors and other Knoxville Symphony Orchestra patrons;
• support the Director of Development and CEO in prospecting, solicitation, and stewardship activity by researching prospective donors, providing timely and accurate reporting on key prospect activity, and creating and distributing gift and sponsorship invoices;
• support the Director of Development, the CEO, and other KSO staff in the execution of the annual Symphony Ball;
• provide administrative support for the Knoxville Symphony League, an independent auxiliary support group that raises money on behalf of the KSO;
• perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Competencies and Qualifications

• A commitment to the mission of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra – to develop and sustain a symphony orchestra of the highest artistic standards and to reach East Tennessee audiences of all ages by providing excellence in musical performance and education programs.
• A passion for the arts; although deep knowledge of classical music is not a prerequisite, familiarity is a plus.
• Acute attention to detail; willing to go the extra mile to ensure work is thorough and accurate.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to provide outstanding customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
• Facility with Microsoft Office required; skill in Microsoft Excel preferred.
• Ability to be on one’s feet for extended periods of time. Ability to lift 30 pounds, operate a motor vehicle, and work both indoors and outdoors.
• Minimum of Associates degree; Bachelors preferred.

Salary and Benefits

This is a regular full-time, exempt position with required evening and weekend hours, reporting to the Director of Development. The salary range is $40,000-$45,000 based on experience. Benefits include health, vision, and dental insurance and a 3.5% contribution to a retirement account.
