Theatre Overview
As one of the country’s largest ensemble theatres dedicated to the creation of new work, Lookingglass Theatre Company seeks to redefine the theatrical experience and to make theatre more exhilarating, inspirational, and accessible to all. Founded in 1988 by a group of Northwestern University theatre graduates, Lookingglass moved into its permanent home in the historic Water Tower Water Works on Chicago’s Michigan Avenue in 2003. Now in its 33rd Season, the Company is a respected source for story-centered theatrical work that is evocative, physical, and visually rich.

With a roster of 29 Ensemble Members and 22 Artistic Associates, Lookingglass productions are centered on ensembles with training in theatre, dance, music, and circus arts. Position Summary
A member of the production team and reporting to the Director of Production, the COVID Safety Testing Coordinator collaborates with Lookingglass, production staff, actors, and contracted personnel to ensure the implementation of Lookingglass’ COVID policies in accordance with State, City and Theatrical union guidelines as well as supports the Director of Production in tasks related to the everyday management of the Production Department.

The COVID Safety Testing Coordinator will play a key role in managing weekly testing, maintaining inventory, and keeping abreast of latest information surrounding COVID mitigation. They will also work closely with actors, designers, directors, crew and staff to shepherd a production process that is focused on supportive, sustainable, and anti-racist practices. As the landscape of COVID and the policies that surround it are ever changing, the following duties and responsibilities may be updated by Lookingglass in collaboration with the COVID Safety Testing Coordinator utilizing their unique skill sets.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Complete COVID-19 compliance safety training. Lookingglass will cover this cost if not already certified.
• Adherence to and participate in implementation of Lookingglass’ COVID protocols
• A working understanding of COVID-19 symptoms, how the virus is spread & how best to avoid it
• In collaboration with Director of Production, oversee the testing of employees, actors, creatives, and select personnel
• Perform safety meetings/orientations for new team members and coordinate any needed safety trainings
• Stay current on new developments in health & safety, to improve the quality and efficacy of the processes and send reports of pertinent findings to Director of Production and Lookingglass COVID Safety Committee
• Exercise autonomy and authority to address COVID-19 safety and compliance concerns within the bounds of established protocols.
• Establish a plan to communicate regularly with senior staff about COVID-19 safety and make recommendations for adjustments to COVID safety protocols as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Production will be focused on the safety and health of the Company and Audience, as well as day-to-day support for managing the Production Team.
• Participate in organization-wide anti-racism work and incorporate an anti-racist lens into daily practice. Qualifications:
• Knowledge of or experience working in a theatre or equivalent experience
• Familiarity with AEA, LORT, or SAG COVID protocols or equivalent
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational/project management skills and attention to detail.
• Proactive attitude and approach to all responsibilities under their purview
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to quickly adapt to the needs of the organization and employees, as protocols change.
• Repeatedly ascend/descend stairs
• Ability to work nights and weekends for technical rehearsals and mainstage productions
• Current COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory before onboarding, unless a reasonable accommodation is requested and granted in accordance with Lookingglass policy.

Immediately through July 31, 2022
Opening: May 11, 2022
Anticipated Closing: July 31, 2022
Performances are Tuesday- Sunday. Typically schedule would alternate between Tuesday and Wednesday, from 4pm-7pm, and Friday from 4-7pm, or Saturday from 11-2pm. Performances will take place at the Lookingglass Theatre Mainstage. Remaining work hours can take place remotely and asynchronously.
Anticipated schedule is approximately 20 hours/week.

Compensation:
COMPENSATION: $20.00/hour; OT after 40 hours per week
