Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Marketing and Communications of Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts will set, guide and execute the strategy for all marketing, communications and public relations needs, including the messages and collaterals to consistently articulate Maryland Hall’s mission on multiple channels and
outlets. You will create or oversee the creation of promotional and informative materials working with all forms of media, including press releases and digital campaigns, our website, print materials, social
media, audio and video and more. You will oversee both external and internal messaging, and manage
other staff who work in marketing and communications which includes oversight of the external facing
Guest Services Office. The Director of Marketing and Communications will work closely with peer groups
within the organization as the communications partner on a variety of strategic initiatives.

What you’ll be doing:
● Serve as marketing strategist with a focus on audience development
● Develop, implement, and evaluate the annual marketing and communications plan across
Maryland Hall’s discreet audiences in collaboration with staff and constituents
● Lead the generation of online and printed content that engages audience segments and
leads to measurable action. Decide who, where, and when to disseminate
● Put marketing and communications vehicles in place to create momentum and awareness as
well as to test the effectiveness of communications activities
● Manage the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral
including, but not limited to, newsletters, banners, brochures, video, audio and Maryland
Hall’s website
● Direct the content strategy and editorial calendar across social media channels
● Supervise, mentor and lead the team members responsible for marketing, membership
coordination and guest services
● Coordinate webpage maintenance—ensure that new and consistent information (article
links, stories, and events, as well as general information about the organization) is posted
regularly and timely
● Track and measure the level of engagement within the network over time
● Manage brand voice and maintain brand integrity across all platforms
● Manage media relations and develop contacts with media members, influencers, and
community leaders, including building partnerships that bring media sponsors to the
● Create budget for communications team and ensure compliance
● Lead the Branding and Communications internal Team, making sure to push forward and
track progress of our annual goals
What you bring:
● Demonstrated experience in communications and marketing, ideally in the nonprofit sector
● High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to
position marketing and communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels
● Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff,
board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters
● Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and
implementing new initiatives
● Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with communications technologies, and current
marketing trends and best practices for distinct communication and marketing channels
● Understanding of copywriting, graphic design, layout, and publishing
● Working knowledge of content management systems, HTML coding, and digital graphics
● Knowledge of social media platforms and social media marketing
● Experience with search engine marketing, Google Analytics, and Google AdWords
● Impeccable copywriting and copy editing abilities; writing effective copy skills, that speaks to
targeted audiences and propels action
● Strong leadership track record
● Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
● Knowledge of Graphic Design softwares as Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign,
Premiere Pro) and Canva
● Preferred: familiarity with the arts or events industries
