JOB TITLE: Executive Director

JOB TYPE: Full time, with part time residency at the Meadowmount School of Music in Westport, NY

RESIDENCY: June 19 – Aug 20 on-site residency, housing provided

SALARY: $90,000 – $110,000 Depending on experience

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Executive Director manages all operational aspects of the summer program and serves as the chief fundraiser for Meadowmount during the year. Meadowmount is seeking a dynamic candidate able to engage potential donors in Meadowmount’s mission and develop a strategy for diversifying and expanding the organization’s funding base. Together with the Artistic Director, the Executive director upholds the values and traditions of Meadowmount while propelling the artistic and educational vision of the school through the 21st century. The candidate should possess management skills in all areas of supervision of a school and a non-profit organization; finances, Human Resources, advertising, health and safety protocols, and general facilities management.

For summer 2021, this individual will be essential to leading efforts for COVID mitigation as required by OHA, New York State and local Department of Health regulations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan, coordinate, oversee, implement and evaluate all aspects of operations for Meadowmount
Actively promote the mission of Meadowmount and its programming and develop relationships with the surrounding communities
Work closely with the Artistic Director and the Board of Directors to design and execute operational plans
Serve as the school’s chief fundraiser: engage potential donors; develop alumni support; coordinate fundraising for the annual benefit concert; develop a strategy for diversifying and expanding the organization’s funding base
Responsible for budgets, financials, insurance policies (health, auto, fire, liability, instrument, property) maintenance and facilities
Responsible for Human Resources reporting and documentation
Oversee hiring of summer personnel working with contractors to maintain and upgrade facilities
Research grant opportunities, write grant proposals including preparing budgets for grants and submitting all final reports
Seek opportunities to enhance Meadowmount’s visibility and develop marketing and communications strategies
Develop operational and safety policies for the school in conjunction with the New York State Department of Health. Ensure camp facilities comply with the DOH and New York State regulations
Oversee year-round maintenance of buildings and grounds
Identify annual facilities improvement projects and establish schedules and budgets
Plan and implement capital building projects approved by the board
Prepare for and address facility emergencies
Oversee visa documentation for international students
Together with Artistic and Admissions directors, handle questions and concerns of parents/guardians as well as student behavioral issues on a case by case basis
Contribute news updates to Meadowmount and Facebook websites
Provide leadership on social media efforts
Address community concerns and questions about school operations
Oversee all departments; Music Director, Admissions Director, Bookkeeper, Nursing Staff, Administrative Assistant, Counselors and department supervisors.

Additional Financial Responsibilities:

Provide regular reporting on operational and fiscal management
Prepare Annual Financial Report with Certified Public Accountant
Supervise and/or carry out office responsibilities including:
Timely payment of invoices
Receipt and acknowledgement of donations
Employee payroll processing
Inventory and accounting of store sales
Maintenance of financial books and records

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree is required or equivalent professional experience in arts administration and/or nonprofit administration.
A minimum of 3-5 years of demonstrated success in administrative leadership in the arts, music, or creative industries
Passion for the arts and the ability to articulate the importance of music, education, and culture.
Leadership skills and the ability to problem solve and delegate
Exceptional written and spoken communication skills
Possess good organizational skills
Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings, early mornings and weekends during the summer session
Demonstrated fundraising success

SALARY

$90,000 – $110,000
