Company Description: Operating out of a beautiful historic theater, The Rose is one of America’s largest theaters for multigenerational audiences. Utilizing a company of full-time teacher artists, The Rose creates professional productions and world-class theater instruction in creative dramatics, acting, dance, and voice. Our 900-seat house is home to eight professional mainstage productions each season. The Rose opened a 27,000 square foot education studio in 2020. We are radically dedicated to financial accessibility, embodied in our Membership Program which effectively reduces cost as a barrier to attendance, as well as our Every Single Child Program which reaches more than 60,000 young people each season at no cost to most schools. Job Summary:
The Rose Theater seeks a strategic thinker, leader, and marketing professional to serve as Marketing & Communications Director and oversee all aspects of the marketing and promotion of The Rose Theater and The Rose Studios for Youth Artists.

The position creates, develops and executes day-to-day and long-term strategic marketing plans. Responsible for marketing, branding and public relations, including Rose mainstage productions, Rose Studios for Youth Artists programs, and more. The position supports fund development, event planning, advertising sales, signage, social media and other theater activities.

Supervisory duties include a full-time marketing assistant and leading the theater’s marketing team. The position serves as a key member of The Rose’s senior management team.

Essential Job Duties
– Collaborative thought partner for The Rose Managing Director and Artistic Director, conducting oneself as an organizational leader among the staff, board and community.
– Awareness of the importance of inclusion and equity in all aspects of marketing campaigns, promotions and communications.
– Conceive and execute robust membership and single ticket campaigns to meet or exceed budgeted goals.
– Develop show graphics, write copy and design the brochure and web pages for main stage season.
– Design and distribute member recruitment materials, including corporate campaigns, direct mail, and corporate/community partnerships.
– Identify opportunities for special promotions to promote memberships and shows.
– Work closely with the Education department to maximize revenue by creating and coordinating marketing strategies for educational programs.
– Develop season-long advertising schedule, to include print, television, radio, outdoor and digital advertising.
– Work with area media to promote shows and programs.
– Write and distribute news releases, calendar announcements, public service announcements, media kits and news advisories as per media calendar.
– Develop and execute crisis communication plans and handle emergency communications in the event of a crisis.
– Serve as the theater spokesperson and media liaison, in addition to the Managing Director and Artistic Director.
– Maintain databases on all media contacts and area media outlets
– Arrange photo shoots and media interviews.
– Plan, monitor and analyze annual marketing budget.
– Write and design the year-end sustaining campaign letter for members and donors.
– Develop additional ideas for fundraising activities, including text-to-give opportunities, website campaigns, and social media asks.
– Oversee sales of show program advertising.
– Develop social media and digital marketing strategy for all aspects of the theater’s activities.
– Plan, organize, and design e-mail marketing campaigns.
– Serve as the webmaster of The Rose website, maintaining all site content and updates, suggesting improvements, and working with outside web developers.
– Oversee the production of digital promotions, videos.
– Plan and coordinate events for audiences, students and members.
– Collaborate with education and outreach staff to ensure students and audiences of all abilities engage with Rose classes and productions.
– Develop visuals for building signage, including digital marquees, lobby concierges, and exterior banners.

– Superlative communication skills, especially in writing.

– Proficiency in digital media best practices.
– Experience with Adobe products (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
– Experience with Microsoft products (Word, Excel), Canva and Asana.
– Experience with photography and videography.
– Love of theater for young audiences.

Education, Training & Experience
– Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field, or equivalent experience.
– Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud.
– Experience with public relations and graphic design.

– Serve as a representative of the Theater, providing excellent customer service to members, patrons, vendors and staff.

Other Job Duties
– Attend all necessary meetings, including department heads, and all-staff meetings.
– Work flexible schedule depending on responsibilities.
– Participate in company events/activities as required.
– Perform other duties as assigned by the Managing Director.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions
– Ability to stand or kneel for extended periods of time.
– Must be able to lift at least 10lbs.
– On-site attendance is required.

Salary & Application Instructions
This is a full time, exempt position. Relocation support will be provided. Benefits include Life, Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance as well as 401K plan and paid time off. Children of employees may enroll in education programs free. The salary range is $55,000-$70,000.
