Scope of Work

  • Works in conjunction with the Board of Directors to develop the strategic direction and establish initiatives to fulfill the mission of the organization and increase local, statewide, national and international awareness and prominence.
  • Oversees operations and assessments, to include development, education and public programming, finance, external communications, and staffing.
  • Recruits, manages, and leads the full-time/part-time staff, volunteers, and consultants.
  • Leads, evaluates, and participates in all fundraising and development activities, including grant writing and developing relationships with foundations, corporations, and individual donors.
  • Serves as spokesperson and chief advocate for the organization. Establishes strong partnerships in the community. Enhances the organization’s public image to expand interest and support.
  • Directs the overall development of public relations and marketing initiatives.
  • Works in conjunction with the Board of Directors to plan and operate the annual budget.
  • Establishes employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operation of the organization.
  • Reports to and works closely with the Board of Directors to seek their involvement in policy decisions, fundraising and to increase the overall visibility of the organization throughout the city.
  • Assumes other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.

Qualifications

  • Minimum education requires a bachelor’s degree. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Transparent and high integrity leadership
  • Ability to provide strong leadership, vision and strategic direction. Experience developing and implementing strategic plans desirable
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standards and best practices for non-profits, or similar organizations, as well as a history of involvement in relevant professional organizations
  • Strong record of success in fundraising, audience development, and donor relationship unique to nonprofit sector desirable
  • Five or more years senior nonprofit management experience desirable
  • Solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation
  • Skills to collaborate with and motivate board members and other volunteers
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to interface and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups
  • Strong public speaking ability
