Part-time, non-exempt: $65/hr

Organization: GRAMMY Award-winning Ragazzi Boys Chorus, Silicon Valley (www.ragazzi.org), under the leadership of Artistic and Executive Director (AED) Kent Jue, provides outstanding musical education and performance opportunities for boys and young men ages 5 to 18. The largest boys’ chorus in the San Francisco Bay Area, Ragazzi serves over 230 choristers in six tiered levels, shaping the lives of boys from diverse backgrounds by developing tenacious and confident young musicians who pursue choral arts of the highest caliber together. Ragazzi ensembles have recently performed Benjamin Britten’s “War Requiem” with the San Francisco Symphony, Alma Deutscher’s “Cinderella” with Opera San Jose, and were invited to sing at the 2026 Western ACDA Conference, 2025 ACDA National Conference, 2024 Western ACDA Conference, and 2023 Chorus America Conference.

Position Overview: The Music Theory Lead Teacher reports onsite (St. Peter’s Church, 178 Clinton Street, Redwood City, 94062) on Monday and Wednesday, during the school year, to collaborate with the Associate Artistic Director (AAD) in instructional and administrative capacities within our Music Theory curriculum.

Duties:
-Report to the AAD in the Ragazzi Office on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00p-8:00p, September-June.
-Monitor Theory Study Hall and mentor choristers as needed.
-Collaborate with the AAD to design two 20-minute theory lessons for each work day.
-Teach 20-minute theory lessons to Primary Group and Ragazzi Premiere choristers.
-Assist the AAD in dividing students into scaffolded groups based on the level of students’ conceptual understanding.
-Grade student music theory assignments and log grades into online platforms.
-Assist staff with dismissal duties at the end of rehearsals.

Strong candidates will possess the following preferred qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree in music education, music performance, or equivalent
-5 years of successful and engaging music teaching to elementary age students
-Strong knowledge of music theory, audiation, and sight-reading instruction
-Outstanding classroom management
-Exemplary personal musicianship
-Ability to enact and adapt a prescribed lesson/topic
-Strong recordkeeping and communication skills
-Passion for instilling music literacy in young people
-Strong desire for collaboration and positive collegiality
