PRIMARY GROUP COLLABORATIVE PIANIST

Organization: GRAMMY Award-winning Ragazzi Boys Chorus, Silicon Valley (www.ragazzi.org), under the leadership of Artistic and Executive Director (AED) Kent Jue, provides outstanding musical education and performance opportunities for boys and young men ages 5 to 18. The largest boys’ chorus in the San Francisco Bay Area, Ragazzi serves over 230 choristers in six tiered levels, shaping the lives of boys from diverse backgrounds by developing tenacious and confident young musicians who pursue choral arts of the highest caliber together. Ragazzi ensembles have recently performed Benjamin Britten’s “War Requiem” with the San Francisco Symphony, Alma Deutscher’s “Cinderella” with Opera San Jose, and were invited to sing at the 2026 Western ACDA Conference, 2025 ACDA National Conference, 2024 Western ACDA Conference, and 2023 Chorus America Conference.
Position Overview: The Primary Group Collaborative Pianist would accompany our beginning level elementary chorus, Primary Group for their Monday and/or Tuesday rehearsals. They would also assist with the completion of some administrative tasks and assist their respective Primary Group Director as needed (sectionals, theory lessons, etc.).
Duties:
-Assist with Music Theory Study Hall supervision from 4:45p-5:15p on Monday and/or Tuesday at the Ragazzi Office in Redwood City.
-Accompany Primary Group rehearsals from 5:30p-7:20p on Monday and/or Tuesday at the Ragazzi Office in Redwood City.
-Assist with grading Music Theory workbooks.
-Assist the Primary Group Director with classroom management.
-Lead occasional sectionals and breakout theory sessions for small groups of choristers.
Strong candidates will possess the following preferred qualifications:
-Bachelor’s Degree in Music or equivalent experience.
-Previous experience as a choral accompanist.
-Ability to work with young children in a positive, enthusiastic, and compassionate manner.
-Ability to follow a conductor’s gesture and rehearsal plan.
-Competence in explaining rudimentary music theory concepts to young children.
-Availability for a December and June performance.
