What exactly would I do?
As the Grants Coordinator, Institutional Giving, you will embody the Symphony’s core values of inclusion, passion, quality, innovation and welcoming. Your days may be spent identifying, researching or crafting grant applications to reach your annual revenue goal of $1.2 million, attending a Board committee meeting, communicating with elected officials, or collaborating with other team members on corporate funding opportunities. Some evenings and weekends will find you attending a Symphony concert, rehearsal or community event to assist with photography or engage with patrons at our informational table.
What qualifications and skills do I need?
At least one year of grant writing experience is required, preferably with an arts organization. Proficiency in Google and Microsoft Office applications and Customer Relationship Management databases (such as Bloomerang and eTix) is a must. Availability to work a robust schedule of evening rehearsals, auditions, performances and community engagement events as well as office time is required. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge of greater Richmond and Virginia government and foundation funders, the ability to translate complex ideas into engaging narratives and an independent work style are all desirable qualities.
What’s the compensation and benefits?
This is a full time position with an annual salary of $36,000-$44,000. Benefits include health, dental, telemedicine, vision, disability and instrument insurances, a flexible spending or health savings account, flexible paid time off, sick leave, free parking, and a 403(b) plan. A combination of in-person and remote work is possible. A strong presence and participation at evening and/or weekend events, concerts and other activities is expected.
