Ensemble Operations Coordinator for the Music/Interdisciplinary Conservatories of the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University
Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Performance Activities, the successful candidate will:
• Develop and oversee large ensemble and chamber music rehearsal and performance schedules (rosters, communication, scheduling, music acquisition/distribution, contracting subs)
• Organize and produce all on- and off-site ensemble performances (communication, transportation arrangements, venue liaison, instrument and equipment logistics)
• Implement all aspects of ensemble syllabi including attendance and processing of absence requests
• Manage 2 Large Ensemble Graduate Assistants and the Choir Graduate Assistant with music library responsibilities
• Manage a crew of 5 part-time, student worker Set-up Assistants
• Schedule and manage ensemble placement auditions
• Serve as a staff member on duty for ensemble performances and select faculty/guest artist recitals as needed
• Liaison to Provost Office for coordinator of musicians for University Services (Commencement)
• Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s degree is required; music or arts administration degree a plus
• A minimum of 3 years of experience preferred
• Detailed knowledge of the organization and operations of a professional orchestra preferred
• Organizational ability and strong attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work under pressure with diverse personalities while completing multiple tasks simultaneously
• Some evening and weekend availability required for rehearsals and performances
• This position requires the ability to move equipment and occasional heavy lifting
• Microsoft Office proficiency required; knowledge of ASIMUT scheduling software a plus
