About Us

The Symphony Orchestra of Northern Virginia (SONOVA) is a community orchestra of more than sixty musicians. We perform four to five major concerts each season, blending classical and modern music in creative and often unexpected ways. Our programs tell stories, engage the senses, and connect music to our community.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Marketing & Social Media Coordinator to support SONOVA’s 2025–2026 season. This role is ideal for someone creative, organized, and passionate about design, storytelling, and audience engagement. Work is primarily remote, with required attendance at all performances and strongly encouraged attendance at select rehearsals to capture content.

Responsibilities

– Collaborate with the Executive Director and Artistic Director to plan and execute creative marketing campaigns.
– Design and draft content including social media posts, graphics (via Canva), newsletters, and other promotional materials.
– Maintain a clear, organized content calendar.
– Manage the scheduling and publishing of approved content across social media platforms.
– Capture engaging photo and video content during performances (and at rehearsals when possible).
– Track audience engagement across platforms and provide simple reports to inform strategy.
– Stay current on social media trends, particularly within the orchestra/performing arts realm, to strengthen SONOVA’s visibility.
-Contribute ideas to enhance SONOVA’s public presence and audience engagement.

– Sat, Feb 7, 2026 · 7 PM – Symphonic Jukebox: SONOVA Goes Vinyl (George Washington Masonic National Memorial)
– Sat, Apr 25, 2026 · 7 PM – Of Legends and Lore (Bishop Ireton High School)
– Sat, May 30, 2026 · 3 PM – Pictures at an Alexandria Exhibition (Schlesinger Concert Hall)

Requirements
– At least 18 years old and eligible to work in the U.S.
– Strong writing and design skills; comfortable using Canva and other digital tools.
– Familiarity with major social media platforms and scheduling tools.
– Knowledge of social media trends, especially in the orchestra and performing arts space.
– Ability to track engagement and present findings in simple reports.
– Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a primarily remote setting.
– Reliable attendance at all performances; availability to attend select rehearsals preferred.
– Detail-oriented, creative, and proactive communicator.

Compensation
– $200 per concert cycle
