We are currently seeking a Chair of Fundraising & Development to lead our strategic fundraising efforts as part of our dynamic Board of Directors. This individual will work closely with the Executive Director, Board Chair, Chair of Community Engagement and Partnerships, the Social Media Team, and fellow board members to design, implement, and sustain a robust fundraising strategy to support the mission and growth of The Heart of Art.
This is a remote volunteer position; however, applicants must reside in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia (DMV), Pennsylvania (PA), or New York (NY) to be eligible.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and execution of annual fundraising strategies, including individual giving, grants, sponsorships, and events
Cultivate donor relationships and foster a culture of philanthropy across the organization
Collaborate with the Executive Director, Chair of Community Engagement and Partnerships, Social Media Team, and Treasurer to align fundraising goals with communications and budget planning
Support board members in meeting individual fundraising commitments and leveraging their networks
Identify and pursue partnership opportunities with businesses, community organizations, and foundations
Provide oversight and creativity in planning fundraising events (e.g., campaigns, benefit events, tours)
Coordinate with the Social Media Team to develop donor-focused campaigns and digital fundraising content
Participate in monthly board meetings and relevant committee work

Ideal Qualifications
Background in fundraising, donor relations, development strategy, nonprofit management, or sales
Experience cultivating donors and securing contributions from individuals or institutions
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Collaborative mindset and comfort working with a volunteer-led team
Strong organizational skills and ability to move projects forward
Passion for arts, literacy, and community development
Ability to commit up to 5 hours per week, not to exceed 20 hours per month
Must reside in DC, MD, VA, PA, or NY
