Are you passionate about empowering students with information literacy? Do you thrive in a creative, academic environment and enjoy managing physical and digital resources? If so, The Modern College of Design invites you to bring your expertise to our dynamic and award-winning institution!

Why The Modern?
We’re not just any college, we’re an award-winning institution recognized as a Top Design School for 14 consecutive years by Graphic Design USA Magazine*. Our alumni lead the charge in the design industry and lead respected design firms and agencies. With vibrant residential, hybrid, and online programs that lead to both Associate and Bachelor’s Degrees, and a contemporary campus in Kettering, Ohio, we provide a dynamic environment for staff and students alike.

About the Role
The Part-Time Librarian (6 hours per week) plays a pivotal role in managing our library’s strategic direction, digital and physical collections, and information literacy programming. Reporting to the Chief Academic Officer, you’ll work directly with faculty and students to ensure resources and services aligned with accreditation standards and the evolving needs of higher education.

Your Mission will include:

Shaping the Library’s Vision: Lead the development and implementation of the library’s strategic plan, aligning resources and goals with the evolving needs of students and faculty.
Curating a Creative Collection: Oversee a robust, design-focused library collection—acquiring, cataloging, and maintaining digital and physical materials that inspire academic excellence.
Empowering Research and Learning: Design and deliver engaging instruction on information literacy, helping students and faculty confidently navigate academic research and digital tools.
Championing Academic Integrity: Manage the college’s academic integrity platform (Turnitin), supporting faculty in upholding high ethical standards across campus.
Enhancing Compliance and Accreditation: Maintain compliance with academic and regulatory standards while contributing to accreditation efforts and continuous improvement initiatives.
Fostering Collaboration: Build strong partnerships with faculty to ensure the library evolves alongside the curriculum and supports student success.

What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking an experienced academic librarian with a master’s in library science from an ALA-accredited program and a strong understanding of ACRL Standards. You should bring a student-focused mindset and the flexibility to work on or off campus. Experience in academic instruction is preferred, and familiarity with resources in art, design, business, or marketing is a plus. If you’re excited to support research, foster academic integrity, and collaborate in a creative college environment, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

What We Offer:

Hourly Rate: $35–$40/hour
A collaborative, forward-thinking academic environment
Flexible role in a creative and energetic setting
