The Executive Director (ED), as the face of the organization will elevate The Stissing Center (TSC) as a recognized cultural, educational and community resource for Pine Plains and Northeast Dutchess County and the surrounding area. Reporting to the Board of TSC, the ED will have day-to-day oversight of all operations while implementing the strategic vision to grow and strengthen the organization. In addition to managing a small but dedicated staff, the ED will maximize community partnerships and work with the Board to cultivate relationships and grow financial resources.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure and inspire the development of innovative programming in both cultural and community service. Provide oversight for planning, organizing, and managing all activities of TSC, including booking, facilities operations and maintenance, personnel development and management, ticket services, technical and audience services and coordination of performing arts, and developing community service and educational activities.
Support the successful completion of ongoing capital initiatives, including the completion of the restoration of our historic building.
Leverage new projects that support the newly drafted strategic plan.
Provide oversight to the construction team, interfacing with the architect, construction manager, building inspector and the local town government. Manage permits, payment authorization and coordinate relationships with all trades and contractors.
Oversee the development and implementation of marketing and communications initiatives to create clear and consistent organizational identity and encourage awareness and enthusiasm for TSC’s mission, goals and programming. This includes leveraging digital and social media, and harnessing audience data to maximize impact of marketing and communications.
Serve as primary spokesperson, participating in local, regional and national organizations.

REVENUE ENHANCEMENT AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Develop strategic partnerships throughout the community to enhance TSC’s reputation, brand, relevancy and standing, in support of its mission, vision and strategic goals.
Cultivate key donor relationships, facilitate public and private partnerships and collaborations, and expand fundraising activities to build sufficient resources for financial resilience and sustainability.
Effectively represent TSC and build authentic relationships with diverse communities.
Coordinate the activities of staff, Board committees and volunteers to ensure success of all programs and events.
Embrace other revenue enhancement and community engagement responsibilities as needed.
Oversee all day-to-day operations and programming, developing plans and procedures to ensure fiscal and human resources are maximized.
Achieve the highest standards for audience experience and for mission alignment, fiscal, operational, and organizational stability and sustainability.
Ensure the necessary organizational structure, policies, systems controls, and procedures are in place and regularly reviewed.
Recruit, hire, and mentor a diverse staff, nurturing professional development and opportunities for training and growth.
Assure that job descriptions are developed; that orientation, training, and on-going evaluations of performance are provided; that improvement plans are developed as needed; and that sound human resources practices are in place and followed.
Effectively mobilize and utilize volunteers in support of TSC’s vision and programs.
Embrace other organizational leadership and administrative responsibilities as needed.
GOVERNANCE AND BOARD RELATIONS
Actively participate in board meetings and provide support to best utilize the board’s talents and resources.
Oversee the preparation and monitoring of a (monthly) reporting system to include annual budget, expense policies, cash management, cash flow and present balance sheets, income statements, and other financial information for board review.
Assist board committees in developing and implementing goals and objectives specifically related to the strategic plan.
