Primary Function:

As Manager of Engagement and Admissions for the SSMF, this position has these roles:

Serve as the primary marketing voice for the Festival. They will design and manage all visual content, including updates to the website, social media, printed program books, as well as donor, recruiting, and admissions material. A background in classical music is highly desired.

Serve as the primary contact for the SSMF, including inquiries from students, families, festival faculty, and the community. They will facilitate the admissions process, send decision letters, and in coordination with the festival director, manage the distribution of scholarships. They will also represent the festival at admissions and conference events, depending on budget and travel conditions during the academic year. As the admissions process unfolds, they will communicate with residence life to facilitate a smooth transition from admitted to residential student.

Assist the Director with the management of the on-campus summer Festival.

Provide marketing support for the Performing Arts Series during the academic year (typically 3-4 events per year).

This position receives general supervision. Broad instructions are provided and the staff member uses judgment and experience to carry out assignments. Completed assignments and finished products are reviewed by the supervisor after completion.

Position Description
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

Engagement
Creative Design

Manage the SSMF website through WordPress

Manage the creation of the program book

Create admissions-related marketing materials, both print and digital

Work with the development team to create fundraising materials, both print and digital

Create online ads for all festival events

Social Strategy & Public Relations

Develop year-round engagement strategies for recruiting, admissions, and donors

Regularly engage with prominent social platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, Mailchimp, and Yapp tracker)

Monitor outcomes for marketing events

Create a system for measuring our collective marketing events

Public relations

Serve as the primary point of contact for students and parents, as well as festival faculty, for all matters related to admissions

Serve as the primary point of contact for audience/community members

Admissions

Manage admissions

Update and maintain application material

Manage application submissions

Manage scholarship database

Respond to admissions-related communications (email, phone)

Distribute decision letters and monitor tuition payments

Work with the Festival Director to manage the distribution of scholarships

Assist at conferences and recruiting events depending on budget and travel conditions during the academic year

Communicate with Conference Services to facilitate a smooth transition from admitted to residential students

Festival management

Assist the Director with the management of the Festival during the summer. Duties may include

Assisting with the management of seasonal staff

Managing front of the house for productions

Responding to queries and circumstances that arise

Performing Arts Series

Provide marketing support to the PAS by creating promotional content for its series of 3-4 events during the academic year.

Judgment Required:
Judgment and discretion as to the use of established policies are required to perform the essential duties of this position.

Budgetary Responsibility:
Monitors expenditures against budget; prepares budget data for review/approval by supervisor/department head.

Student Contact: Yes, there will be contact with students
Internal: Operations Committee, Faculty, Administrative department heads.
External: Parents/visitors from other institutions.

Attributes of a Successful Candidate
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required, with a musical background preferred. MM in arts management or marketing preferred.

Experience:

Arts administration is required

Admissions/festival experience is preferred ;

A background in classical music is highly desired.

Job-Related Skills:

Use of admissions software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs.
