Theatre Communications Group, the national organization for theatre, seeks a full-time Circulation & Sales Associate to join TCG’s Publications Department, responsible for AMERICAN THEATRE magazine, ARTSEARCH, TCG Books, and Advertising. This position will support the circulation of TCG publications and data.

What You Will be Doing
• Support with digital advertising sales and ARTSEARCH (50%)
• With the Director of Advertising, develop digital advertising offerings that can be sold to small to mid-size theatres as well as individual members
• With the Director of Advertising, implement digital advertising campaigns, including TCG Blasts (AT Weekly, Education Monthly, On the Scene, and the IM Wire); website ads (AT.org, ARTSEARCH pages, TCG Website and the TCG Circle); and podcast advertising
• Assist with list creation (research) and management for AMERICAN THEATRE magazine advertising prospects and follow up with those prospects
• Support with ARTSEARCH listings, including communicating with advertisers, posting listings, and invoicing
• Coordinate circulation and distribution of American Theatre magazine, and TCG Books, including but not limited to (30%)
• Act as liaison with magazine distributors and retailers to coordinate and maintain bulk order contracts
• Pursue TCG Books and American Theatre placement and sales at member theatres
• Oversee billing and fulfillment for American Theatre retail sales at The Drama Book Shop and The Understudy Books & Coffee
• Oversee in-house and off-site inventories for mailings, iMIS sales, and fulfillment
• Work directly with the Director of Publications and other TCG departments (including Membership and Marketing,) to implement strategies to target new customers, and take advantage of sales and revenue opportunities to increase individual membership and circulation of American Theatre magazine
• Support TCG Books Business Manager with shipping new titles to staff, board, designers, contributors, and relevant donors
• Work with the Director of Publishing and other team leaders to provide accurate vendor and consumer data as well as reporting and analysis of sales, marketing efforts, department activity, and other reports including but not limited to (15%)
• Serve as backup contact for iMIS & assist with database management
• Generate American Theatre circulation reports for each issue
• Build products for TCG Publications in iMIS and pull sales reports
• Renewal, expiration, billing, and promotional analysis reports
• Postage reports
• Work with the Business Office on weekly/monthly reconciliation, advanced processing, and order adjustments
• Other cross-departmental work as needed to support TCG (5%)
What You Need for this Role

We are seeking a self-starter with a service-oriented attitude and a passion for learning about the not-for-profit theatre field.
In addition to these qualities, we are seeking someone who has:
• An administrative background, with circulation marketing and/or data management experience
• Experience in customer service or membership (experience working in theatre and/or a service-oriented field is a plus).
• Intermediate experience with all Microsoft Office applications and working knowledge of Google Drive, plus the ability to learn new systems and digital platforms with relative ease. Previous experience with CRM databases, report writing, and point-of-sale systems is preferred.
• Keen analytical skills and the ability to think critically and deliver recommendations based on metrics and data.
• Knowledge of budget preparation and execution.
• Have an interest in theatre, a sense of humor, a friendly disposition, and a desire to be part of a collaborative team.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $55,000 – $60,000 and will include a comprehensive benefits package, medical, dental & vision, Employee Assistance Program, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, two weeks of vacation time, and additional paid time off.
This position requires working one day per week from TCG’s office in NYC, and otherwise has the option of working from TCG’s office or remotely.
