ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Marketing Director is a seasoned marketing professional with knowledge of the performing arts sector. TAPA is uniquely positioned to be a singular destination for the performing arts and arts education across multiple disciplines. Using a data-driven approach, the Marketing Director will help grow ticket sales, diversify audiences, and increase enrollment in education programs across the organization.
The Marketing Director will report directly to the President & CEO. TAPA’s General Manager will provide additional support and input to this role as needed. This position will supervise the Marketing Manager, Education Marketing Coordinator, Box Office Manager, Box Office Associate, and Graphic Designer (freelance). This role collaborates closely with key stakeholders across TAPA programs and partnerships.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ticketing Revenue: Responsible and accountable for setting TAPA’s annual ticket revenue goals, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) associated with these goals, and form and enact strategies related to customer acquisition, retention, migration, and revenue maximization.
• Strategic Marketing Initiatives: Using a data-driven approach, develop and implement multi-layered content marketing campaigns that resonate with target audiences to drive engagement, increase ticket sales and enrollment, and create memorable patron experiences.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Senior Leadership Team and key departments to align marketing efforts with sales goals, internal and external communication, and brand consistency across all touchpoints.
• Financial Oversight: In collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team, design and manage marketing budgets, overseeing resources to align with the artistic and financial objectives of TAPA.
• Content Creation: In coordination with the Marketing Manager and Education Marketing Coordinator, produce content for all digital media and oversee the functionality and optimization of TAPA’s website, including SEO, delegating content creation, and editing to appropriate departments and teams.
• Communications Strategy: Serve as key marketing contact for TAPA and work to elevate awareness of TAPA programs through paid and unpaid media.
A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:
• Have a strong knowledge of or background in the performing arts (classical music, dance, jazz, theater, etc.)
• Demonstrate innovation and drive as a marketing leader with a proven ability to translate vision into actionable strategies that yield tangible results.
• Possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and alignment across diverse teams.
• Be able to create content for a variety of channels using a variety of programs, tools, graphic design, and video editing software.
• Have familiarity with Customer Relationship Management systems (i.e. ticket and fundraising software).
• Stay apprised of industry trends and best practices, particularly related to digital advertising.
• Be willing to think outside the box, test assumptions, and reject the status quo.
THE FINE PRINT:
• This position is full-time/exempt, mostly in-office with flexibility to work remotely as needed
• TAPA’s new administrative offices will feature an open office environment
• Regular attendance at TAPA events is strongly encouraged
• Paid leave includes 20 vacation days, five sick days, two personal days, the employee’s birthday, and at least 10 paid holidays. A flexible work summer schedule is provided. Employees can roll over five days (40 hours) of unused vacation time annually. Paid leave will be prorated during the employee’s first year.

The Toledo Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) is a collective consisting of the Toledo Symphony, Toledo Ballet, Toledo Symphony School of Music, Toledo Symphony Youth Orchestras, and most recently, The Toledo Jazz Orchestra. TAPA strives to establish meaningful partnerships with individuals and organizations that fundamentally impact the cultural life of our region. As a vibrant and growing arts organization, TAPA empowers all in our region to experience the performing arts through concerts, recitals, education programs, community engagement and activation, private lessons, fully staged productions, and more.
In the fall of 2024, TAPA will move its headquarters to the former Masonic Temple adjacent to the Stranahan Theater on Heatherdowns Blvd. This new facility will serve as the artistic hub for all of TAPA’s administrative offices, education programs, private lessons and group classes, some performances, and community programming.
